CHAPTER 7 – The Second Photograph
The second photo was folded, worn at the edges — like it had been carried close to the heart for years.
Zayn stared at it.
This one wasn't just of Mila and Liora.
It was of the three of them — together. A memory that never should've existed.
His fingers trembled.
Mila can't see this. Not yet.
He tucked it away just as a familiar voice approached.
"You didn't tell her everything."
Zayn turned.
A man in a navy jacket stood by the café window. Lean, sharp-eyed. Dangerous calm.
"Kai," Zayn muttered.
Kai smirked. "Still playing hero, huh?"
"I told you to stay out of this."
Kai shrugged. "And I told you this wasn't over. You're messing with something you barely understand."
"She deserves the truth."
Kai's eyes darkened. "The truth got Liora killed. You think Mila's any safer?"
Zayn clenched his fists. "Mila's not Liora."
Kai tilted his head. "No… but she's a mirror. And mirrors? They shatter."
---
Meanwhile…
Mila sat on the edge of her bed, staring at her reflection.
Who was Liora?
Why did Zayn look at her like he'd known her forever? Why did she feel like she'd known him longer than she should?
She grabbed her phone.
One missed call from her aunt. Three unread messages. One unknown number.
She tapped it open.
> "Don't trust him. Don't trust the memories. You are not who you think you are."
Her blood ran cold.
And then another message followed:
> Check the back of the photo.
Hands shaking, Mila picked up the photo Mrs. Calhoun had left behind.
She turned it over.
There… in faint pencil, barely visible.
> "11/08 – The day it all began."
Her birthday.
---
🔻 Cliffhanger:
Mila's birthday wasn't a coincidence. It was a beginning — and maybe… a reset.
→ What happened on that day? And why does everyone keep lying?
---
💌 The secrets are unraveling, and Mil
a's about to question everything… even herself.
👉 Chapter 8 is next — and it's explosive.
