Chapter 14 - Episode 14: A Second Simulation Unlike the First

(Do you wish to start the simulation now?)

Wang Fei returned to this dark place once again. When he saw the message in front of him, he couldn't help but ask,

"Your simulation... it can only start when I'm asleep, is that it?"

(If the host wishes, it can be started during waking hours as well. However, the system does not recommend this, as it would cause you to lose consciousness immediately… It would only happen under forced conditions.)

"When would that be?"

(Under special circumstances, which the system cannot reveal how or when they occur.)

"Won't that put my body at risk? What if the special condition triggers when I'm already in danger?"

(The host need not worry. During the process, the system will temporarily take control of the host's body. The host will not be harmed in any way.)

"You're not going to do anything weird to my body at that time, are you...?"

(If the host does not trust the system, it can place your body in a temporary state of hibernation.)

Wang Fei sighed. He felt a little guilty for being so paranoid, especially since he had already received so much help from the system. He should trust it a little more.

"Sigh… Fine. Do whatever you need, just don't get others involved. So, what are the details of this simulation?" As soon as he finished speaking, numerous message boxes appeared in front of him.

(Initiating virtual world simulation)

(Location: Simulated World – Iberia, Year XXX)

(Identity: Lucille – Race: Sankta (Angel), Rarity: Rare)

(Background: You were born into a poor family and sold to a wealthy, twisted household. Your adoptive parents are followers of the Church of the Abyss. They kidnap and imprison people and children in their mansion to sacrifice them to the Seaborn. Their fate is always the same: death.)

(Family: Your adoptive father is a wealthy man who inherited his fortune after his entire family perished due to the arrival of the Silent Tide. As the sole survivor, he joined the cult to uncover the truth behind their deaths but eventually descended into madness, becoming one of the most notorious cult leaders in Iberia. Due to fear and lack of evidence, he has never been brought to justice. He has high expectations for you and bought you to raise as his successor. Your adoptive mother is mentally unstable from too much contact with the Seaborn. She collects remains of creatures as a hobby and worships the Seaborn for their immortal bodies. She sees you as a living specimen for her collection.)

"System… are you trying to piss me off?"

It was clear he'd had enough of messed-up families in real life. His first simulation had him abandoned by family for war. And now he's born poor, only to be sold to this twisted, inhuman family? If the system wasn't trying to provoke him, what would you call this?

(Please trust the system. All simulation scenarios are truly randomized.)

"Then I must be incredibly lucky!" Wang Fei snapped sarcastically.

"Sigh… So, can the skills from the outside world be used in this simulation? If I had the 'Eldest Child' skill, maybe the family situation wouldn't be so bad—like when I was with the Nearl family."

(The host may bring one skill from the outside world.)

(However, allow the system to clarify: the 'Eldest Child' skill does not affect adoptive families. It only applies to the host's biological family.)

(This means the love from the Nearls was genuine… not because of a skill you selected.)

"…Hearing that only makes me feel worse," Wang Fei sighed, though a warmth touched his heart, knowing the Nearl family's love wasn't artificially created. It was easy to forget that simulation wasn't real life. That thought always brought a heavy sigh.

Then something clicked in his mind…

"Wait… does that mean the 'Eldest Child' skill I picked was a total waste? Why didn't you tell me sooner!?"

(Because the host didn't ask. The system is not responsible for recommending abilities.)

"You damn system!" Wang Fei was furious.

He regretted not choosing the Swordsman skill earlier. Maybe he could've trained hard enough to change the course of the war, instead of relying on the King's power.

But… thinking about it again, even if he had that skill, there was no way he could've beaten Bocascaty, that powerful general. A Normal-rank skill could never defeat a monster like that.

The system ignored his frustration and continued the process.

(Because your simulation form is slightly stronger than the last, you may now select 4 abilities.)

Ability 1: The Fanatic (Rare) – Your obsession allows rapid progress in anything you focus on, but you cannot shift your attention elsewhere.

Ability 2: The Deceiver (Rare) – You can fool others with tricks and your silver tongue.

Ability 3: The Saint (Elite) – Your divine aura brings warmth and peace to those who see you, as if embraced by the gods.

Ability 4: Mage (Normal) – You have superior control and learning capability in Originium arts.

Ability 5: Endless Sin Sankta (Legendary) – Your sins separate you from the laws of the world and return you to your true origins. Your potential increases immensely, but you must fulfill one strong desire to maintain it.

Ability 6: Gun Master Sankta (Rare) – You use firearms as if they're part of your own body.

Ability 7: Knife User (Normal) – You can wield and master knives better than others.

Ability 8: Mental Resilience (Normal) – You have exceptional emotional endurance.

"Legendary level! God… Are you telling me my luck finally turned around!?"

Wang Fei felt like he'd pulled an SSR-tier character. Though the name and effect of the skill made him uneasy, the system refused to say anything further. It clearly wasn't going to help with decision-making.

"Screw it… It's just a simulation. If I draw something rare and don't pick it, what's the point?" Without hesitation, Wang Fei chose the Legendary ability, then picked three more.

To his surprise, even after selecting the Legendary skill, he could still pick the Elite one. It was the first time the system felt generous. Wang Fei didn't hesitate to select The Saint right away.

His four chosen abilities were:

Endless Sin Sankta (Legendary) – Your sins sever you from the world's laws and return you to your roots. Your potential increases greatly, but you must fulfill one burning desire.

The Saint (Elite) – Your holiness gives others a sense of divine warmth, as if touched by a god.

The Deceiver (Rare) – You can deceive others with cunning and speech.

Mental Resilience (Normal) – You have excellent emotional endurance.

Though Gun Master and Fanatic were tempting, Wang Fei thought they had too many drawbacks. Guns in Terra were incredibly expensive—and so were bullets. Since gunpowder didn't exist, bullets needed Originium powder. Just one clip could land him in debt for years, let alone the cost of the gun itself. He wasn't born in Laterano, after all—he was from Iberia.

As for Fanatic, while it was good to focus obsessively on something and improve rapidly, what if he became obsessed with the same cult that adopted him? Wouldn't that drag him into darkness like his adoptive father? Better to skip it and take Mental Resilience as a safeguard.

"System, start the simulation. I'm ready!" Wang Fei declared confidently. His simulated self was far stronger than in the first simulation, and he was certain he'd perform just as well, if not better.

But instead of being dropped into the simulation like before, the system showed him a scene-by-scene storybook...

(When you were born, your Sankta parents worshipped you as if you were their god. They raised you like royalty.)

(At age 1, you started to talk and think independently. You noticed they never gave you a name and only called you 'Father'. Believing it to be a respectful title, you referred to yourself that way and saw your parents as disciples.)

(At age 2, seeing happy families made you feel strange inside. You approached them to ask why they treated their children that way and lectured them. They looked at you in fear and fled. You stared silently at their retreating figures, then gazed at the sea, breathing in the salty air with an empty heart.)

(At age 3, you returned home smiling and asked your parents to commit suicide. They complied, took guns, and shot themselves in the head. You looked at their lifeless bodies without emotion. Then, you used your power to create monster replicas of them to act as your parents. But it still did nothing to fill the emptiness inside.)

(When you were 4 years old, you heard rumors about a notorious cult led by a wealthy man living in a nearby mansion. Curious, you convinced your parents to offer themselves to the cult. Due to your exceptional intelligence and appearance, the cult took a deep interest in you and gladly adopted you as their child.)

(At age 5, you were forced by your adoptive father to read many books. You quickly understood them without being consumed by their knowledge. To you, they were merely hypnotic toys that caused hallucinations—effective on weaker minds, but for you, they only served to make your heart more numb. You also learned of the family's wicked acts: imprisoning townspeople and children in the basement to offer them as sacrifices to a sea monster called the Seaborn. You had seen them yourself. The creatures were both obsessed with and terrified of you, to the point that even your adoptive parents were astonished. One day, a secret court directly under the cult leader appointed you as the new leader of the Church of the Abyss. Your father was so shocked and delighted that he agreed without consulting you. So, you killed them both and transformed them into monsters obedient only to you.)

(At age 6, you were sent to the main church in Iberia, where you met the former cult leader. He knelt respectfully before you and called you "Holy Father." Pleased, you appointed him your personal advisor. Your saint-like aura of mercy drew many believers to your faith. As for those who opposed you, you simply smiled, visited them, preached a little... then turned them into human-looking monsters loyal only to you.)

(At age 7, your church began to grow in power.)

(At age 8, your church had fully taken over Iberia.)

(At age 9, you aimed to expand your religious influence and sent an envoy to negotiate with Laterano for land to build a church. You were rejected, and your envoy was killed with a holy bullet. You weren't angry; you laughed, impressed that they saw through your envoy as a disguised monster. So, you decided to go yourself—bringing your army and loyal followers. War began. You slaughtered many of your fellow Sankta using black ichor made from Seaborn flesh. Your halo and wings turned black after killing so many of your own kind. As the war ended, the dying pope named you "The First Fallen Angel, Lucille." You loved the name and spared the pope's life as thanks.)

(At age 10, you fully seized control of Laterano. Anyone who disagreed with you was executed. You didn't turn them into monsters because you saw the Sankta as too weak—aside from their gun skills, they were otherwise useless.)

(At age 11, despite ruling Laterano, the Sankta still resisted you. No amount of pressure could sway them. You grew impatient and began experimenting on them. You uncovered a great secret in their blood, terrifying the high-ranking Sankta. They begged you not to reveal it. You agreed—on the condition that they convince all Sankta to obey you. Left with no choice, they accepted.)

(At age 12, you received news that the main church in Iberia had been destroyed by a group called the Abyss Hunters. Intrigued by their resistance to Seaborn corruption, you returned to Iberia. Upon arrival, hundreds of Abyss Hunters ambushed you. For the first time, you were wounded. Seeing your own blood excited you. You killed many of them, forcing a retreat. However, you were seriously injured—losing one arm and one eye. You didn't pursue them, choosing instead to experiment on their corpses.)

(At age 13, you discovered the Abyss Hunters' secret: they used Seaborn blood to create hybrids via direct body modification. With the strength of the Aegir and the resilience and limitless potential of the Seaborn, it was no wonder they had become so powerful. If left unchecked, they could one day become a great threat. But... you weren't concerned. In fact, you found it fascinating. Having lost much of your own strength, you decided to create a new lifeform to compensate.)

(At age 14, you successfully created the ultimate lifeform from your blood—a being most like yourself. Unfortunately, it was too weak, so you kept it close and raised it like a loyal pet. Meanwhile, you sent the corpses of Abyss Hunters, now turned into monsters, to occasionally disrupt the Aegir. This slowed their growth—until one incident where your monsters went too far and nearly wiped them out. Wanting to keep the game interesting, you killed your own monsters and fed them to the Seaborn, allowing the Aegir to recover. Bored again, you left Iberia and returned to Laterano, appointing a new cult leader to watch the Aegir and report any movement.)

(At age 15, shortly after returning to Laterano, you were attacked by a mysterious organization called Babel. They launched a direct military assault, refusing negotiation. Initially, you thought they were just remnants of the Sankta army and let your monsters handle it. But to your surprise, your monsters were wiped out. Boredom turned to interest. A strategic battle, like a chess game, began. The enemy used guerrilla tactics, causing heavy losses to your monsters. Still, you killed many from their tower.)

(At age 16, you remained focused on your battle with Babel, enjoying it more and more. You decided to send your secret weapon—your pet.)

(At age 17, you were still fascinated by the fight, unable to win easily. For the first time, you took interest in their leader and wanted to visit. But somehow, that person always escaped just before your arrival. You weren't angry—only amused.)

(At age 18, your pet finally succeeded in destroying Babel's tower. But upon hearing the news, you were disappointed. You ordered your pet to bring you the leader's head—but it returned with a green-haired Feline woman and her soldiers, surrounding your mansion. That's when you realized—you'd been played. Your pet no longer obeyed you. It had been freed and turned into the green-haired woman's weapon. You laughed joyfully and chose to fight them yourself. But due to your injuries, you were only half as strong. Ultimately, you were defeated—impaled by your own creation, now called Mon3tr, after being weakened by the magic of a pink-haired Sarkaz woman. You felt happiness and envy—that it had been given a name by someone who truly valued it. And at last, your deepest desire was fulfilled. Your heart was no longer empty.)

(You died.)

(The simulation ends.)

(Simulation result: Grade F Lowest Rank — You disrupted Terra's history. Unlock condition: Reincarnation (Legendary Rank). Due to your low performance score, you receive no reward and are penalized: Taste nothing for 24 hours.)

(Reincarnation – Legendary Rank allows you to temporarily restore all abilities from your simulated self. Usable once per week.)
