Eliza sat cross-legged on the couch, clutching a pillow to her chest like it was her last line of defense. She stared at her mom with the most pleading, hopeful eyes she could muster. Her dad, sitting nearby with a cup of coffee, watched the scene unfold like it was a prime-time drama.
"So, Mom," Eliza began sweetly, stretching out the words like honey.
Her mom barely looked up from her magazine before narrowing her eyes. "No."
Eliza gasped, pressing a hand to her chest like she'd been mortally wounded. "You don't even know what I was gonna say!"
Her mom raised an eyebrow. "Whenever you start a conversation like that, it means you're about to ask for something that will give me a headache."
Her dad snorted behind his coffee. "She's got a point."
Eliza huffed and tossed the pillow aside. "Okay, fine. But hear me out! Ava, Lucifer, and I were thinking… what if we went on a little trip this summer?"
Her mom's eyebrow arched higher. "A trip?"
Her dad set down his coffee and leaned forward slightly. "Like… to the mall?"
"No, Dad, an actual trip!" Eliza said, excitement creeping into her voice. "A small summer getaway! A fun adventure before school takes over our lives again!"
Her mom exchanged a look with her dad, who simply sipped his coffee again, wisely staying neutral.
"And how exactly are you planning to go on this adventure?" her mom asked suspiciously.
"We've got it all figured out," Eliza said quickly. "We'll be super responsible! No wild parties, no getting lost in the wilderness—just a simple road trip, some good music, and amazing memories."
Her mom sighed, setting her magazine down. "And who's driving?"
Eliza hesitated. "Lucifer…"
Her mom gave her a long, skeptical look.
"Okay, I know that sounds like a terrible idea," Eliza admitted, waving her hands. "But we'll be safe! I swear! We'll check in every day, follow all the rules—"
"Eliza." Her mom's tone was firm.
She groaned. "Okay, maybe most of the rules. But we need this, Mom! We survived exam week, and that's basically a near-death experience! We deserve a break before school swallows us whole."
Her dad chuckled. "She does have a point."
Her mom sighed, rubbing her temples. "We'll think about it."
Eliza perked up. "Wait—that's not a no!"
Her mom waved a hand. "Go before I change my mind."
Eliza didn't need to be told twice. She grabbed her phone and bolted to her room, immediately texting the group chat.
Eliza: Operation 'Nag-Our-Parents-Until-They-Give-In' is in progress.
Ava: I'm about to give an Oscar-worthy performance.
Lucifer: I just asked, and my mom said yes.
Eliza: …That's it?
Lucifer: She told me not to do anything that requires a lawyer. That was the only rule.
Ava: WHY is everything so easy for you?!

Meanwhile, at Ava's house, things were just as dramatic.
Ava sprawled across the dining table, arms stretched out dramatically like she was dying. "Mother. Father. I come to you in my hour of need."
Her dad lowered his newspaper, peering at her. "What did you break?"
Ava scoffed. "Wow. Rude. I'll have you know I am here to request something very reasonable."
Her mom raised an eyebrow. "That's suspicious."
Ava sat up straight, placing her hands together as if in prayer. "Eliza, Lucifer, and I want to go on a summer trip. Just a small one! Super safe. Totally normal. No danger, no irresponsible decisions—"
Her dad cut in. "That last part makes me think there will be irresponsible decisions."
Ava groaned. "Okay, minor irresponsible decisions. But nothing illegal, I swear!"
Her mom folded her arms. "Who's driving?"
"Lucifer."
Her dad smirked. "That explains the 'minor' part."
Ava groaned, flopping back onto the table. "Come on! We deserve this! We just went through exams! That's practically a near-death experience!"
Her mom sighed. "You'll check in every day?"
"Yes!"
Her dad leaned back. "And you won't come back with any suspicious stories?"
Ava grinned. "Define 'suspicious.'"
Her mom shook her head. "Fine. But if something ridiculous happens, I don't want to know about it."
Ava gasped. "I love you both so much." She sprinted up to her room, grabbing her phone.
Ava: Mission success. Parents caved.
Eliza: YES!
Lucifer: Told you guys it was easy.
Ava: I hate you.

Lucifer's house, on the other hand, was the easiest conversation ever...
Lucifer leaned against the fridge, casually eating an apple. "Hey, Ma, can I go on a summer trip with Eliza and Ava?"
His mom, scrolling through her phone, didn't even look up. "Sure."
Lucifer blinked. "That's it?"
She nodded. "Just don't do anything that'll make me regret this."
He smirked. "You really need to be more specific."
She finally looked up, raising an eyebrow. "Fine. Don't do anything that requires a lawyer."
Lucifer chuckled. "Noted."
As he turned to leave, his mom added, "And if Eliza yells at you, I'm not saving you."
He laughed, pulling out his phone.
Lucifer: Start packing, losers. We're going on a trip.
Eliza's Room
Eliza let out a victorious squeal, rolling onto her bed with excitement. She had already started mentally packing—what outfits to bring, what snacks they'd need, and what playlist to blast in the car.
Eliza: We actually did it. We're going on a summer trip.
Ava: WE CONQUERED OUR PARENTS.
Lucifer: Yeah, yeah. But who's planning the route?
Ava: Not it.
Eliza: …Fine, I'll do it.
Lucifer: Knew it.
Eliza sighed, but her smile didn't fade. This was really happening.
A road trip with her best friends.
The summer adventure of a lifetime.
And maybe—just maybe—something more
To be continued....
💬Author's Note:
Operation Parental Persuasion = 10/10 success... Eliza begged, Ava performed dramatic theater, and Lucifer? That boy just ate an apple and got a green light. UNFAIR.
Now it's your turn—
What would you do to convince your parents to say yes to a summer trip?
Cry? Beg? Offer to wash dishes for a year? Fake a near-death exam experience like Eliza? Or Just… ask Like Lucifer. (If you're that lucky, teach us your ways please 😩)
