Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Memories of Bull

Never expected to hear such words, Su'er stared blankly at Bull, who was usually silent but now kept talking.

"You haven't seen the settlement before Riku and you appeared, right?" Bull said with his eyes lowered: "...We were hunted down and killed from time to time. We couldn't even take off our clothes when we went to bed every night. We had to be ready to move at any time. If we couldn't collect enough food or encountered bad weather, it was common for several people to freeze to death or starve to death."

"...I had a younger brother, and he starved to death like this, and I was luckier to Survive." Although he was talking about something related to himself, Bull seemed to be telling the story of a stranger, "Children at that time were always the most difficult to grow up. Even when there was a shortage of food, parents who gave birth to babies had to drown their children with their own hands... But everyone lived numbly like that and got used to everything..."

"But...there is also Riku..." Su'er subconsciously opened his mouth to refute, but was forcibly interrupted by Bull.

"So, Su'er, you and Riku are different." Bull repeated his words again, took a deep breath and continued, "I don't want to go back to that kind of life anymore... I don't want to go back anymore. Riku and you who can see the future that we can't see can lead us forward. You are our brains and eyes - so don't say such things anymore, Su'er, both you and Riku are indispensable."

His eyes were burning.

"And I believe that even if Riku was here, he would definitely order us to save you, even if we all died here."

He frankly said that the value of his lives was lower than Su'er, but the other few people had no different opinions. Everyone just looked at Su'er, waiting for his voice.

Bull words were their truest thoughts.

"..."

Silent, Su'er couldn't know the answer to this question.

He didn't even know what expression to make. The muscles on his face were stiff, as if he was wearing a layer of heavy shackles. He knew that Bull was right logically, but his emotions couldn't accept such an answer. He felt sour and even disgusted from the bottom of his Heart.

Hate this cruel rule, hate the world that must have such cruel rules, hate it immensely.

"Cough cough cough", suddenly coughing, Lenny tried to support himself to sit up, but he was too weak and finally sat up thanks to Mori's support, "I always feel colder and colder."

The man coughed and laughed.

"Well, I feel like I need to warm myself up by the fire, and then drink a bowl of hot soup made by Couronne before I can recover," Lenny smiled mischievously on his pale face, "Anyway, let's go back first, after the war between the Werebeast and the orcs is over, they will definitely search this area, it always feels very bad to stay here."

He was right, Ivan words were like an invisible whip whipping several people, everyone immediately got busy to eliminate the traces of their stay here, only Su'er was sitting there motionless, as if thinking about something.

"Gado", seeing that his companions were ready to set off again in an extremely short time, Lenny was also carried on Mori's back, and Su'er suddenly said: "Your body shape is very similar to mine, so exchange your clothes with mine, because mine is already damaged and stained with a lot of blood."

"Okay."

Although he was confused, Gado did not mean to seek an answer, but just quickly took off his clothes and exchanged them with Su'er according to Su'er order.

"Aren't you going back with us, Su'er?" Ivan, who was lying quietly on Mori's back, looked at all this and suddenly asked, and his words made the others turn their heads to look at Su'er.

"Well, there is one thing I am worried about, and I have to confirm it again. You go back first, and if I am alone, my target will be much smaller - this is the order of the elders!" Looking at Bull who was obviously excited and wanted to say something, Su'er suddenly raised his voice and suppressed it.

Walking up to the young man who was a few years older than him, Su'er smiled and patted Bull on the shoulder and said, "Don't worry, I finally escaped death, I won't do anything to get myself killed."

"Okay", Bull's expression became obviously complicated, but he finally chose to obey the order.

"Oh, by the way, if I still don't come back on the third day after you arrive at the settlement...", taking the necessary supplies, Su'er stuck the dagger in his leg and walked out of the cave, and stopped at the corner, "Then make Sure Riku quickly transfers everyone to a spare safe place."

"...Yes."

"Swear to the will."

"Swear to the will."

——————————————

Su'er felt much better, at least better than when he just escaped. To be honest, when he was sitting in the cave with Lenny and others, he had a headache all the time, and the fatigue made him feel as if he would fall asleep in the next second.

But it's different now.

He had been curled up in the gap between the underground river and the outside world and had been sleeping for about...seven hours? Or eight hours? Or maybe even longer, Su'er couldn't make an accurate estimate.

This kind of rest restored a lot of his physical strength, and he was much more energetic. Even the pain from the dislocated arm that had just been reattached had weakened a lot, but it was just a little swollen when touched.

His body was very strong.

He touched the animal skin under his body, and the side that still retained the hair was covered with a lot of water droplets. It should be the water vapor emitted by the underground river condensed on it.

Moving in this narrow gap, everything here is good, neither the Werebeast nor the orks can get in, even Su'er himself has difficulty even straightening his back, but unless a Flügel or something like that flies over the sky and then launches an attack with interest to flatten the mountain, Su'er doesn't have to worry about encountering any danger, which is also a reliable guarantee that he can sleep peacefully for such a long time.

After eating some of the food with the water from the dark river, the feeling of fullness in his stomach made Su'er body warm up. His strength was accumulating, and he listened quietly.

The battle between the Werebeast and the orcs outside, as well as the roars and explosions, seemed to have become much smaller, but Su'er was not Sur whether this was just his feeling or whether the battle between the two sides outside was coming to an end.

He began to make a decision - go out and implement his plan now, or wait for a few more hours.
