"There are no more heroes… only dogs, and the madmen who follow them."
— Final field journal of General Toma
Underground Military Bunker – Northern Germany
The air still smelled of iron and ash. Though the fires had long died, the earth remained hot beneath their boots.
General Ricardo Marcus stared at the screen. Rows of canines—German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, Dobermans—marched in controlled formations, each fitted with lightweight armor and neural response collars. Above the footage, a line flickered:
"PHASE II: DOG INTEGRATION PROTOCOL – ACTIVE"
He exhaled sharply.
"This is no longer a war of men. The gods below… they fear what they cannot corrupt."
He tapped the screen again, revealing data logs: sonar pulses. The dogs responded aggressively only to one type—the frequency of the priests' presence.
Beneath the Sinai Resort – The Hidden Staircase
The air was colder now.
Mike's hand brushed along the stone wall, his other holding Sarah close as they descended. Behind them, Adam froze mid-step.
"Dad… I hear it again."
Mike turned.
"What do you mean?"
"Barking… but not like dogs up there. It's echoing. Like… like it's alive inside the walls."
Sarah knelt beside him.
"Could it be… the army?"
Adam shook his head.
"No. It's not barking at us. It's warning something else."
The Buried Temple of Luxor
The lone priest, his robe tattered but his eyes alight, stood before the sealed door. He whispered the forgotten words—the Old Tongue of the Surface Pharaohs. The ground trembled. Sand split apart.
A colossal carving emerged: the head of a jackal, wings of a falcon, and at its feet—an altar.
He reached into the altar's hollow and pulled out a weapon wrapped in linen.
A crimson spear glowing with pulsing veins.
"They fed on war. We shall answer with their fear."
Behind him, shadows stirred. Statues cracked open, revealing figures in dormant armor, eyes flickering gold.
United Nations Emergency Chamber – Undisclosed Location
"This is madness," said the Japanese envoy, "arming beasts with weapons of war?"
General Toma laid down a red file marked: "DOG CODE: CERBERUS"
"We've tried logic. We've tried nukes. All we did was make them stronger."
He flipped a page, revealing:
Sound maps
DNA responses
And one photo of a boy—Adam Arshur, with the label:
"Source Zero – Sound Catalyst"
"We're not arming animals. We're creating something they fear."
Meanwhile… underground
The priests laughed in the dark.
They knew the taste of human fear.
They did not yet know the sound of defiance.
But they would.
Because soon, the earth itself… would bark.
