"Vitals?" she asked, snapping on her gloves.
"Stable but dropping fast," her head nurse replied. "Blunt trauma to the liver. Car crash. VIP."
She scanned the monitor, nodded once, then picked up the scalpel. In the world outside, she was a shy girl with too many books and a cinnamon roll addiction. But in here?
