Some more things were discussed in the parliament.
'Vande Matram' was chosen as the National Anthem.
I... actually had plagiarised A.R. Rahman's song some 10 years back during a dharna.
Jan Gan Man wasn't chosen due to calling southern states 'Dravid', which is not only false since there is nothing Aryan-Dravidian, but also because it reduces the distinct history of those states to just one block of false identity.
It was created during British colonial era, so Rabindranath Tagore must have come to believe the Aryan Invasion Theory he had been taught.
I mean, it's not like I needed to change anything regarding this, I love the og national anthem. But well...
I just love 'Vande Matram' much more.
National flag was already chosen on the day we got independence, and choosing national bird, tree, etc. are not that important right now.
But next came national language.
I kept it brief, and said, "I believe we should have a two language system.
First, we will create states on linguistic basis, though making sure that there won't be more than 30-40 states. Then we will use that state's language, along with a national language. I want it to be Sanskrit, many want it to be Hindi.
Let's shift the discussion to after the general elections. For now, we will write the constitution in Hindi, and later translate it to all the languages India has.
I want to pass another bill right now, and it is of grave importance."
Though many, most of the people had objections to me talking about linguistic creation of states, everyone agreed to push the matter for later.
"Now, most of the princely states have been integrated. There is no need for former Viceroy Mountbatten to continue being the Governor General.
We will impeach him, and install C.Rajgopalachi ji as the Governor General."
The impeachment bill passed easily, and then Rajgopalachari was elected as the new Governor General.
The most powerful British officer in India was impeached ahead of post-war negotiations.
The constituent assembly session of today ended, and I went to Viceroy palace to meet the former Governor General, Mountbatten.
Though he had looked the other way when we had surrounded and then taken out the rulers of Junagadh and Hyderabad during War on the basis of calling them traitor, without much announcement, I don't believe he actually is pro-India.
Afterall, he had refused to arrest Jinnah. And was trying to put pressure to stop the war.
Well, whatever his intentions are, he is no longer needed here.
"Mountbatten ji, where is the gold?"
Most of the money RBI holds is paper currency, with majority of the gold backing it in London.
It has been more than two months since Independence, and yet no reply from British government.
Mountbatten nodded, "I understand your frustration, but the procedure is taking more time. It is a lot of gold afterall."
Its not even 0.1% of the gold UK has stolen.
"If UK keeps delaying, how will India give Pakistan's share?"
Not that we intend to, but saying it will make them bring it faster.
"Don't worry about it. During the negotiations, I will talk to Mr Jinnah."
I frowned.
Why did he assume that he will be a part of negotiation?
"You are no longer hold any post in India. Why would you be in the negotiations?"
"Ah. Not as a negotiator. But as a mediator."
"No. UK has no business in a bilateral negotiation between India and Pakistan. We already have a mediator."
Mountbatten frowned.
"Mr Kumar, I know that you are angry over UK's veto in the UN, but we just wanted to make it more democratic before the voting.
There is no need for hostility between our nations."
"You are misunderstanding. I understand where UK is coming from.
But the mess of Pakistan was created because of UK. So, we would like if you don't meddle.
From tomorrow onwards, we will apply for a default status on London. Please return all of our gold with 10% interest for the delay of two months.
On 15th November, 5% more interest will be added."
Of course, I don't believe UK will pay the extra, but we will just lower UK's banks' credit score in India down the ground.
While UK will not really apply for loans from us for a long time, the government will take over British assets, impose tarriffs and custom duties, and make the return of investment far too low for UK. Meaning they won't get much benefit from government bonds.
Will it be bad for India since it will get low investment? Yes.
Will it make it harder for India to get loans from UK? Yes.
But it's about sending a message, and building a case for justifying taking over the islands of Indian Ocean that UK is in control of.
Just saying that it is for 'freedom' won't be enough.
And it is to ensure that when UK inevitably sanctions us, we won't suffer much.
Before Mountbatten could talk any further, I got up and handed him a letter, and left, not answering any of his questions, like who will be the mediator.
It is an eviction notice. One of my people will audit the palace to ensure that he doesn't take anything from the palace that isn't his.
He will have to remain in the palace tomorrow, and it will take atleast a week in the audit and he will have to leave in that time.
The day ended, and at 9am in the morning next day, the mediator arrived for the negotiation meeting that will take place at 9pm.

Guess who will be the mediator?
