If this story proves successful, I will write more SoW fanfic. I already have several prequel/sequel/side stories in mind.
I grew up playing minecraft, so when the Songs of War full movie was suggested to me by Youtube, I gobbled it up like a hungry wolf. Naturally, I wanted more SoW after Season 1. As I dug deeper, I found that Seasons 2 & 3 are canceled. However, under the cancellation video, the full script was available for download. Hence, that's what I did. However, reading it was very dry. There was little scenery description, no action (a lot of the fights that take one page in this revamp is just one sentence). I have some experience in school writing short fiction stories. Hence, I thought of the idea of adapting this script into a novel.
Along the way, I discovered many.... shortcomings of the original script. I understand that everything had to be squeezed into 10 episodes of roughly 20 minutes each, but that's no excuse for bad character development. For example, a lot of times in Season 3, a side character of some importance is outro-ed with something like *dies*. That is not okay. I therefore made my own changes to these flaws. I have also added a lot of relation between the characters, which you will find out in due course.
In any novel-tv adaptation, the novel always have a lot of extra scenes. For example, in Harry Potter, the Sorting Hat never sung in the movies, though it did in every book when Harry was present (except like 2nd grade). So I added a lot of extra stuff, especially in Seasons 2 and 3 (Volumes 2&3).
There's also my personal spin on the story. I like memes and some of my friends say I'm a walking joke machine, so you will find a lot of "references" to other popular works. These are not like spiderman saying "Hey, have you watched that old movie The Empire Strikes Back?" They are more subtle. Like in Season 2, there is one particular swear word that comes from Star Wars.
