We were spending recess in the school yard. Todd was beside me, describing a movie he'd watched with his family at the cinema the night before. That's when I grabbed a hand. I turned to find Emma looking at me curiously. "Can I talk to you for a moment?" she said. "So I left my friend alone with me, wondering what was going on?" "Cheryl... you caused her trouble with her boyfriend." I knew Emma was Cheryl's black box. She must have told her what happened last night. But I played dumb. There was still no evidence of my crime. - How could I do this? I barely know her.
She said, "She was telling him about a dream she had last night. He accused her of having an affair."
I said, "I don't understand. What's it got to do with her dreams?"
She said nervously, defending her friend, fighting back a blush.
"It was an intimate dream, and I told him it was a good dream."
"Wow.. I'm flattered."
She slammed her hand into my chest and said, "Or.. maybe you shouldn't do it."
I looked behind her to find Cheryl watching me from afar in the corner. It was clear from her eyes that she'd been crying. I didn't feel guilty for a moment.
"Emma.. I don't know what to say or do."
She said, "You should meet her boyfriend Tom and deny these things."
I laughed, then said, "What? I don't have to do anything. She's the one who had the dream, she's the one who enjoyed it.. and I should apologize?" She said angrily.
- Just stay away from her.
She said it and left.
I said to myself as I examined her sexy body as she left.. Oh Emma.. This isn't loyalty to friendship, it's jealousy.. You feel that Cheryl has gotten everything and you remain in the shadows..
