At this moment, Alvin's nerves were on edge.
Could they still manage to calm the situation in time?
Fortunately, the three-headed dog, Fluffy, was soothed by the music and stopped its attack, slowly walking back to the trapdoor and lying down.
Seeing this, Alvin motioned to the twins with his eyes to slowly back out of the room, then gently closed the door and locked it with a spell. He exhaled softly.
Turning around, Alvin was startled to find the twins looking at him curiously.
The twins exchanged glances and quickly put their arms around Alvin's shoulders.
"Dear Master Gaunt, thank you! I'm Fred, and this is my brother George," said one of them.
"Stupid Fred, I'm the older brother," the other quickly retorted.
Alvin twitched the corners of his mouth at their address.
What was with the title, Master Gaunt?
Seeing the two teasing him, Alvin didn't back down.
"Master Weasley, I was specially sent by the Headmaster, Mr. Dumbledore, to protect you. You can call me a guardian."
Looking at Alvin's serious expression, Fred and George seemed genuinely taken aback.
"Did the Headmaster really send you here? Did he catch us on our night tour?" Fred couldn't help but ask.
George was also a bit nervous. Despite their usual mischief, the twins still held some fear of the Headmaster.
"Of course not, I also came out for a night tour."
Alvin rolled his eyes and explained to them.
"It turns out that noise earlier was caused by you!" the twins said in unison upon hearing this.
"I was just reading in the library for a while, and you brought Filch there," Alvin replied without refuting.
"Then why didn't we see you just now? What spell did you use?" George was more curious about the magic Alvin used to suddenly appear.
If they could learn it, they'd have nothing to fear from Filch and his cat.
"This is the Disillusionment Charm. If you want to learn it, check the restricted section. I learned it by chance."
Alvin didn't hide it; he had a good impression of these two lively troublemakers. If possible, he would like to get the Marauder's Map from the twins to study.
George and Fred exchanged a look and saw the eagerness in each other's eyes.
As for the restricted section? Not a problem at all for the twins.
Alvin stretched, having followed the twins through enough adventures for one night, and decided it was time to rest.
"Okay, I'm going back to rest. If the two Master Weasleys have nothing else, I'll head off," Alvin said with a touch of humor.
George and Fred weren't annoyed; instead, they smiled broadly, appreciating Alvin's company and wit.
"You should really come to Gryffindor, Master Gaunt," George said, giving a thumbs up. Alvin was very much to their liking.
Alvin was more interesting than their brother Ron.
Alvin waved them off without further words and turned to leave.
Where the twins went next, Alvin didn't know. But he was certain it wasn't the way to the Gryffindor common room.
When he reached the door of the Ravenclaw common room, he gently touched the bronze eagle door knocker, which then came to life.
Regardless of whether the young wizard in front of it had broken school rules, it faithfully performed its duty.
"Two pairs of father and son went to buy hats. Why did they only buy three?"
"Because there are three generations: grandfather, father, and son."
After entering the common room smoothly, Alvin raised his head inadvertently and froze.
A girl was standing next to the entrance of the girls' dormitory, looking at him blankly.
"Emma?"
"Alvin?"
They spoke simultaneously, and Alvin asked first.
"Why are you here?"
"I'm here to get this Quidditch training guide," Emma answered Alvin's question in a daze, then realized Alvin's situation was more pressing.
"Why did you come back at this time? What were you doing?"
Faced with Emma's questioning, Alvin couldn't hide it, so he told her everything about the night.
Including why he sneaked out and how he met the twins. He even mentioned the corridor on the fourth floor.
When he described pulling a prank on Fred and George, Emma laughed so hard she nearly doubled over.
However, when he mentioned the three-headed dog, Fluffy, Emma's face turned tense. Hearing about its weakness, she was relieved and immediately became excited.
"It's so cool, Alvin, you've only been at school for two days, and you've already gone on a night tour. I've been here for over a year and haven't tried it yet. Next time there's something fun like this, be sure to call me!"
Looking at Emma, who was extremely excited, Alvin was surprised. He hadn't expected her to seem so gentle and quiet, yet have such a wild side.
But then again, as a future Ravenclaw Seeker, she likely had a natural excitement for adventure.
Ruffling Emma's hair, Alvin smiled fondly.
"No problem, next time I find something fun, I'll let you know. But not soon. Even though I go out every night, I just read books—it's quite boring."
Feeling the warmth on her head, Emma smiled sweetly and agreed to Alvin's plan. The two talked for a while longer before heading to sleep.
...
The next morning, Alvin joined his fellow Ravenclaw students in heading to the basement for Potions class.
Along the way, they encountered the Gryffindor students who were joining them. Harry greeted Alvin but was quickly pulled away by his roommates.
Perhaps due to the butterfly effect caused by Alvin's arrival, the number of Hufflepuffs this year was exceptionally large, almost equal to the sum of the other three houses.
So the school decided that after their term, Hufflepuff would take classes alone, while the other three houses would take classes together. Thus, this class included not only Gryffindor but also Slytherin.
Remembering he hadn't signed in today, Alvin mentally instructed the system.
"System, sign in."
"Ding, congratulations to the host, you have received a copy of Potions knowledge (purple)"
So lucky?
Alvin raised an eyebrow, and with what he'd received before, his potion skills were now on par with an outstanding fourth-year student.
Having outshone Snape during the Sorting Ceremony, he thought Snape might try to regain his footing in Potions class.
He'd been worried his potion skills might not be sufficient, but the system provided just what he needed.
Sure enough, the system was his greatest ally. Thank you, system!
