I want to know mor-
Ruan WenCai jolted upright, grasping for breath. It didn't take much time for him to realize his blood veins had turned blue, but he ignored it and quickly took a look at his surroundings.
Woods....
This is....This is that house!
In a flash, Ruan WenCai opened the door, and outside the bedroom, it was exactly what he had seen a moment ago. Panicked, he tried to catch a sign of Lucas, but he was nowhere to be found. He stepped outside, struggling to stand - still, he spotted Lucas.
By the river, Lucas sat beside a campfire grilling some fish, the flame cast the shadow of tiny green glows across the forest, forging a magnificent scene. Those specks of green light appeared everywhere in the forest- not insects, but something older, older than time, forming an ancient rhythm.
Ruan WenCai slowly walked toward Lucas, but just like it was his sense, he immediately found out his presence and waved at him.
"How long have I passed out?" He asked as he sat on the wooden plank.
"Not too long." Lucas smiled softly.
"Thank you for saving me." The boy said with a refreshing tone.
"Nothing - just passing through." Lucas muttered with his mouth chewing on the fish.
Despite the answer, he could tell it was just a lie.
"He saved my life two times, how is that a coincidence?"
"There had to be a reason that he didn't want to tell me."
"Regardless, I owe him."
Ruan WenCai sat with his left hand clenched while observing everything around.
"This seems to be the same river....but the sound...I've heard it." - With the thoughts in his mind, still he knew that he needed information first.
"Forgot to tell you, my name is Vel...mir Winter...fall..?" Realizing what he had said, Ruan WenCai thought that it was only a mistake, but he felt strange and began to mutter repetitively.
"Winter...Winterfall...Winterfall?"
"What's wrong?" Lucas asked as if he saw the confusion in Velmir's voice. His voice broke through his illusions and brought him back to the reality. Intended to hide his true curiosity beneath, he answer with an admiring tone:
"I didn't expect you to be that powerful"
Lucas couldn't hold it in; his eyes were wide open, and it began to show sparks. All of a sudden, he pressed on Velmir's forehead and whispered.
"Time hasn't come yet, there's no sign of the resonance."
He was confused by what Lucas said, but he showed no expression. Instead, he acted like he hadn't heard anything and began to wander in his mind. "Time hasn't come...yet? Resonance? Before he could respond, Lucas gave him a weighty stare and opened his mouth.
"You felt it, didn't you? The strange shift in your blood. It chose you."
"These blue veins?" Velmir lost in thought.
"You'll see soon."
He had no idea; he knew this world was strange, but what was happening to him? Straightaway, he had sharpened his mind. "I can't trust him too much now, secrets should be kept, but surely he is an ally." - Velmir thought for a while. At that moment, he began to think about the power that Lucas possessed and came to the conclusion that this world has magic!
"I have to become stronger." He muttered. The boy has no intention to harm anyone; he just wants power. Not overwhelming, but enough for him to survive in this mysterious world.
The moment his words came out, dew started to float out of the tree leaves and formed around the campfire until all of them assembled into a purified tear. It was truly something miraculous. All at once, creatures gathered around the two, and the glittering tear entered his body.
Subconsciously, Velmir raised his hand, and water formed in an instant. The sound of the ocean came out of nowhere, resonating with his heart, forming a sound of heart-bounding and flowing water. The feeling of creation filled his mind as if he could create everything with his imagination, but in the blink of an eye, the water vanished, leaving behind fragments of glowing water, while his body felt like it was shattered into pieces.
"What happened?" He spoke with his voice cracked, and Lucas replied to Velmir with a barely noticeable smile. "Rest first, go with me tomorrow." He was confused by the answer, but still, he captured that smile and started to reassemble everything from the start.
"I'm sure he has a connection with me. I'll figure it out soon." - Velmir, who was struggling, said in his mind. Meanwhile, he didn't notice it yet, but the some water still floating around him, and his veins had turned into a more deeper-blue color.
Unable to withstand the agony from the incident, he ended the conversation, quickly turned away, and went into the house after saying goodnight to Lucas. However, he didn't know Lucas; on the other hand was speechless, with a dumbfounded face, and he...smiled.
Going into his room, he plopped down onto the bed and started thinking.
"This is not Earth for sure, but it doesn't matter, I'll make use of the relationship between him and me. One thing for sure is that in the past, I didn't know him; he's the only one who knows me."
"Ahh....mom, sister, I miss you..."
....
....
....
Once again, lost in his thoughts, Velmir was silent.....until it happened.
"Wait...I didn't know him?" The moment the questioned himself, the headache appeared!
"No...this body owner didn't know him!"
"...What language am I using..?"
"No....When did I first start talking like this?"
"Velmir...Winterfall....Ruan..WenCai...?
"Could this mean..."
While suffering, the card he had picked up earlier started to float into his hand and turn into glowing a white mark. On the outside of the house Lucas said in peace "Chain 7....It's begun."
