Chapter 2 - The Second Sighting

It was a few days later that I saw the Dogman again.

Today I was out taking pictures, hoping to see some of the local wildlife, I would do this as a way to relax and relieve stress. I also post the edited pictures to my social media so that my mom can see them as well.

Every so often I stop to take a drink from my canteen and look around me for any potential danger that may be around.

Most of the stories I heard, read, or watched, were of the Dogmen coming out at night. I rarely found anything about them being out in the daylight.

But this time I took my rifle with me instead of my handgun. I also have my horse, Salem. Her senses were keener than mine. If there was anything out there with us, she would pick up on it faster than I would.

There were also small streams where Salem could get herself water along this trail.

I have Salem stop for a moment as I spot a moose ahead of us. I'm close enough to see this big bull, but still far enough away to give it space and not feel threatened. My camera has a good zoom on it so I can get closer to the moose without having to move towards it and spook it into charging me and Salem.

I slowly raise my camera up until I have the moose on the screen and hit the button to zoom in closer when I got the image I wanted on the screen, I snapped the photo.

When I looked at the image, I about dropped my camera, just behind the moose was the same Dogman that I had seen just a few days prior. I look back to the moose, but the Dogman was gone.

Where did he go?

Salem wasn't reacting like I thought she would because of this creature. Did that mean that this Dogman in particular wasn't a threat? Or was it somehow cloaking itself from horse to keep her from alerting me to where it was?

Surely Salem would've seen the creature just as I had and the moose also wasn't reacting like I thought it would with a predator so close to it.

I decided that my little outing was done, and I steer Salem around back towards home, keeping an eye and hear out for anything that was out of the norm.

Later that night, I shut Salem in her shelter for night, making sure that the lock was secure, though what good it would do against that Dogman out there, I don't know, hopefully he will have something else to eat tonight and not try to get to my horse. I didn't sleep that night, going to the window that showed Salem's shelter, my rifle in hand just case I see him near the barn.

I actually don't want to kill him, but if he threatens me or my horse, I will.
