Chapter 6 - The Long Sought Comfort

"Kuhuu...."

The bird chirped loudly as it flew towards Aria.

Aria's melodious laughter sounded in the silent forest, making it lively.

Rayan looked at this scene with amazement-filled eyes. He had come to the hill before too, but it had been so deadly silent that he felt there was no animal on it. With great difficulty he had seen a pheasant.

But this time, the hill looked so lively.

He was left surprised.

"You! Li Dupi Lan Bhe." (Yes, I missed you too.)"

Aria smiled as she said to the bird.

Rayan didn't understand a single word, but he saw that the bird seemed more excited after she spoke. Did they understand whatever she said? He thought in confusion.

The bird sat on her shoulder and Aria continued walking forward. The firewood inside the hut had finished, and so she decided to go on the hill.

Her eyes went to the person accompanying her, but she looked away scared when she saw that he was also looking at her.

His bulky build always intimidated her. If that was not enough, he had those beautiful yet aloof eyes which stared at her with a different kind of gaze.

It made her feel a little weird inside her stomach. Aria didn't understand these things, so she preferred to avoid eye contact with him.

Looking away, she walked to a tree and lifted her axe to hit the tree but was interrupted by a sharp voice.

"Stop!"

Aria flinched and dropped the axe immediately. Then she looked at him with fear-filled eyes.

She didn't understand what he said, but his loud voice was enough to scare him.

Rayan walked to her with a look on her face as if Aria was a child who had done something wrong.

"You...how can you even think of cutting down this tree on your own?"

Rayan scolded her.

She looked so fragile. Her wrist had turned red just because he had held it slightly, and she was trying to cut a tree there.

Aria didn't understand anything he said, but from his looks, she knew that he was unhappy.

But what did she do this time?

Rayan sighed, knowing that she didn't understand a single word he said.

So, without saying anything, he picked the axe from the ground and started doing the work himself.

Aria stepped back and lowered her head with a pout on her lips as if she didn't understand what was even her fault!

As Rayan continued his work, she decided to find some fruits and vegetables to eat and fill her basket. Rayan noticed that she was walking away.

He stopped working. Until he was sure that she was in his sight, he didn't start working again.

With his strength, he was able to cut down the tree soon.

When Aria walked back to him, she was amazed to see the already cut firewoods.

So talented ah...

If Rayan had known that a knight like him was gaining plus points because of his ability to cut firewood, then he would not have known whether he should laugh or cry.

But at this moment, he was more busy tying those firewoods together.

When Aria signed him to put those firewoods in her basket, he looked at her with a strict expression on his face, making her step back again.

Did she really think that he would let her lift these heavy firewoods?

Rayan shook his head and lifted the stack of firewood on his shoulder. Aria was concerned about his wound, but she was also afraid that if she said anything that she would be scolded again, so she didn't dare to say a single word.

Then Rayan asked Aria through gestures if they were supposed to go ahead or go back to the hut.

Aria signed towards the direction to go down the hill, so Rayan started walking behind her.

On their way back, he saw a small pit and stopped there because it looked to be of a man's size...and precisely him.

He didn't have much memory of the moment when he had fallen unconscious.

It had been raining heavily, and he had been too busy diverting the attention of his enemies. The wound on his chest had been bleeding heavily, so he couldn't pay much attention to his surroundings.

Aria realized that he had stopped walking. She frowned and turned to look at him. On seeing him looking towards something, she followed his gaze and her lips parted when she saw the pit.

She had found him there.

She immediately walked to him and patted his hand slightly.

Rayan flinched when he felt the touch, but Aria continued her actions regardless this time.

"Lan He Nadina" (You are alright)"

She said softly.

Rayan stared at her.

Of course, he didn't understand her words, but her gestures were enough for him to understand that she was trying to comfort him.

Did she think that he was scared?

A smile came to his lips unconsciously, and he stared at her more intensely.

How long has it been since someone tried to comfort him!

Rayan thought silently.

There was a beautiful silence as Aria continued patting his arm and Rayan stared at her lowered head. But it didn't last long.

Because soon, Rayan frowned. His eyes went from gentle to cold.

There was someone on that hill.

And then the next moment, Aria felt her arm being held, and then she was dragged behind a tree.
