Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 The Mystery of the Runes and the Tracking Trap

Three days after the battle at the city lord's mansion, Jack and the city lord pored over ancient books, trying to find clues about the runes on the jade pendant, but after two days of searching, they came up with nothing. Jack rubbed the jade pendant, and the runes glowed with a strange light in the sunlight, as if silently telling a secret."Sir, there's an old beggar outside looking for you. He said he knows the origin of the jade pendant," a servant reported in a hurry. Jack's heart skipped a beat, and he rushed outside the mansion. At the corner of the street, an old beggar in ragged clothes was leaning against the wall, basking in the sun, with a broken bowl beside him."Old man, you said you know about this jade pendant?" Jack squatted down and handed over the pendant. The old beggar's cloudy eyes suddenly lit up. He grabbed the pendant and said in a hoarse voice, "Little lad, you're in big trouble! These runes are the mark of the 'Mysterious Yin Alliance,' a mysterious organization that even the Blood Fiend Sect fears!"Before Jack could ask more, the old beggar suddenly twitched violently and fell to the ground, bleeding from his seven orifices. Jack was shocked and tried to save him, but the old beggar had already lost his life. At that moment, a sinister laugh came from above. "You want to know the secret? Then give your life first!" Several dark shadows leaped down from the roof. They were assassins from the Blood Fiend Sect.Jack gripped his bronze sword tightly, realizing that this was clearly a trap set by the Blood Fiend Sect. The assassins surrounded him in a fan shape. The leader, a man with a centipede - like scar on his face, licked his lips and said, "Boy, hand over the jade pendant, and I'll let you die a whole death!""In your dreams!" Jack used the "Wandering Dragon Step" to shuttle among the assassins, and his bronze sword sliced through the air, leaving behind streaks of cold light. However, these assassins seemed to have figured out his moves. They coordinated seamlessly and constantly distracted him with poisoned hidden weapons. Jack's clothes were cut by a hidden weapon, and a numbing sensation spread along the wound, gradually slowing down his movements. At the critical moment, a silver sword light flashed, and one of the assassin's arms was severed. The woman in white appeared again. Her silver short sword still exuded a mysterious aura. "Be careful. They're using the 'Three Yin Bone - Eroding Poison.' You must expel the toxin as soon as possible!" As she spoke, she whipped out a silk ribbon, wrapped it around Jack's wrist, and pulled him behind her. With her short sword dancing, she repelled two more assassins.Jack sat cross - legged, enduring the numbness and circulating his spiritual power to expel the toxin. The woman in white faced multiple opponents alone. The light on her short sword grew brighter and brighter, and every swing of the sword brought out a silver arc. "Why... do you keep helping me?" Jack asked with difficulty as he worked on his cultivation."This isn't the time to ask questions!" the woman in white replied coldly. Her short sword suddenly stabbed into the ground. "Break!" With a 娇喝,a crack opened in the ground, temporarily blocking the assassins' attacks. She took the opportunity to pull Jack up. "Come with me!"The two dashed through the alleys, with the assassins of the Blood Fiend Sect hot on their heels. The woman in white led Jack to a dilapidated temple. Behind the Buddha statue, she took out a porcelain bottle from a hidden compartment. "Take this. It can neutralize the Three Yin Bone - Eroding Poison."Jack took the medicine, and the numbness in his body gradually faded. Just as he was about to thank her, the woman in white spoke first, "Don't thank me. I'm helping you only because of the jade pendant in your hand. The affairs of the Mysterious Yin Alliance are very complicated. If you don't want to die, leave this place immediately." With that, she turned to leave.Jack grabbed her sleeve. "Wait! At least tell me your name!" The woman in white paused for a moment and said without looking back, "When you can survive the pursuit of the Blood Fiend Sect, you'll naturally know." Before the words faded, her figure disappeared into the night.Jack clenched the jade pendant, his eyes determined. He knew that he was one step closer to the truth. No matter how many dangers lay ahead, he would uncover the secrets of the Mysterious Yin Alliance, find a way to restrain the Blood Fiend Sect, and protect the fairy mountain and everyone he cared about. At this moment, the plots of the Blood Fiend Sect were still unfolding, and an even greater crisis was quietly brewing in the darkness...
