At this moment, Xiao Yixian had no idea that while she was preparing to wash up, a certain boy was already hiding on a tree branch nearby, getting ready to feast his eyes.
Hidden perfectly beneath the cover of leaves, Xiao Yan remained still, ensuring his position was secure. Not only that, he even diverted a portion of his soul power to once again block off Yao Lao's perception. After all, how could a dignified Dou Zun act so shamelessly as to peep on a little girl bathing? For the sake of his teacher's reputation, Xiao Yan locked him back into the "little black room."
Soon enough, Xiao Yan spotted the seven-colored line on Xiao Yixian's lower abdomen—the very feature described in the Seven-Colored Poison Scripture as the mark of the Woeful Poison Body. Once confirmed, he was prepared to leave. Honestly, he had no interest in a flat-chested little girl. He wasn't some pervert obsessed with underage girls.
But just as he was about to move, a sharp screech echoed from above. A small, blue-feathered eagle dove out of the sky. Xiao Yan instinctively tried to dodge, but that minor movement caused the branch beneath his feet to snap. With a loud splash, he plunged into the stream below.
"Damn bird! I'll turn you into stew if I catch you!" Clambering out of the creek, Xiao Yan cursed furiously. He was just about to take off in pursuit when he suddenly felt a burning gaze behind him. He awkwardly turned around—only to see Xiao Yixian standing there, arms crossed, face full of shame and fury.
"Uh... if I said I fell down while training a Dou Technique, would you believe me?" Xiao Yan chuckled dryly.
Smack!
Minutes later, a bright red handprint adorned Xiao Yan's cheek as he sat silently on a boulder nearby, sulking. He glanced up at the flapping blue eagle and sighed to himself. 'Even someone like me can mess up like this? What terrible luck… I can't believe I actually botched peeking on a girl. How embarrassing.'
"Why are you glaring at my Lan'er like that? You holding a grudge or something?" Xiao Yixian, now fully dressed, called the little eagle over with a gesture. The bird obediently landed by her side and nuzzled affectionately against her arm.
"Where'd this little guy come from? I didn't see it before," Xiao Yan asked, puzzled. In his previous life, when he fought the Heavenly Poison Woman in the Empire of Clouds, there was a giant blue eagle by her side. Could it have been this same one?
"I found it a few months ago. It was injured, so I bandaged it and took care of it. Since then, it's followed me everywhere," Xiao Yixian smiled gently as she stroked the bird's feathers.
Normally, magical beasts were violent and hard to tame. She hadn't expected her small act of kindness to earn the creature's loyalty.
"Only you would waste time doing something like that. If it were me, I'd have cooked it into stew long ago," Xiao Yan teased.
The blue eagle flared its wings at his words, clearly agitated. But before it could retaliate, a wisp of black flame danced into Xiao Yan's palm. The eagle immediately shrank back behind Xiao Yixian, too frightened to move.
"You really are something… picking fights with a child," Xiao Yixian said helplessly as she patted the eagle's head. It wasn't even three years old yet—barely more than a hatchling. In a sense, it really was just a kid. Her words made Xiao Yan grin.
"Did you forget? I'm a kid too."
"Er…" Xiao Yixian blinked in realization. Perhaps because of his maturity, she'd always treated Xiao Yan as older than he really was. Only now did she remember—he wasn't even ten yet.
Xiao Yan didn't bother arguing with a magical beast that hadn't even reached Tier One. After leaving the stream, he calmed his mind and dispelled the secret technique that had been blocking Yao Lao. Before the old man could speak, Xiao Yan asked first, "Teacher, is there a way to suppress the Woeful Poison Body?"
"Why do you want to know that?" Yao Lao paused.
"I found a Poison Scripture in that cave earlier. It recorded information about the Woeful Poison Body. Based on the features it described, Xiao Yixian definitely has it. She hasn't awakened it yet, but the risk is still there. I want to know if there's a way to suppress it."
Though Xiao Yan had been a peak Dou Sheng in his past life, he didn't know everything. Mastery comes with specialization, and in this area, Yao Lao's expertise as the continent's top alchemist far surpassed his own. Besides, he had never personally studied the Woeful Poison Body before.
"Who would've thought… that girl actually has the Woeful Poison Body…" Yao Lao murmured in surprise. He had once fought a wielder of that physique and knew just how terrifying it could be. After a long silence, he replied, "There's no cure. But… it can be controlled."
"Controlled?"
"Yes. The method is called the Poison Core Technique. In simple terms, it gathers all the poisonous energy inside the body into a single condensed core, preventing it from rampaging uncontrollably. I'll send you the specifics."
As Yao Lao's spiritual message entered his mind, Xiao Yan's expression darkened. No wonder no wielder of the Woeful Poison Body ever had a happy ending. The so-called method was no less than a monumental challenge.
It wasn't that the method itself was difficult, but rather the three ingredients it required. The first was three different Heavenly Flames. The second was the core of a Tier Seven Sky Poison Scorpion Dragon Beast. The third and most elusive ingredient was Bodhi Form Transformation Saliva.
The first two were hard to acquire, yes, but not beyond Xiao Yan's means. The third ingredient, however, was another story entirely. Said to be related to the legendary Bodhi Tree, this substance only appeared once every thousand years. And by his recollection, the next emergence wouldn't happen for another twenty to thirty years…
Still, if the Poison Core could truly be formed, the power of the Woeful Poison Body would skyrocket—perhaps even to the Dou Sheng realm. A Dou Sheng with that physique? That level of strength would be nightmarish.
Xiao Yan had no intention of giving up. Only by forming the Poison Core could the Heavenly Poison Woman's strength be fully realized. A walking time bomb wasn't worth his attention. But a fully controllable, obedient weapon—that was different.
Xiao Yan's goal was clear:
He would create a Woeful Poison Body that belonged entirely to him.
