Chapter 29 - Evolution with teleportation artifact

Adam leaned back in the cavern, taking deep, shuddering breaths. The sounds of the distant battle between the Thunderbird and the Mana-Stone Rhino still echoed, a testament to his narrow escape. As his mana flow slowly healed his battered body, he reached into his dimension and pulled out the newly acquired satchel.

"Lyra, what is this item?" he asked, his voice hoarse.

"Analyzing," Lyra responded. A moment later, her voice filled with a barely contained excitement. "Adam, this is a Teleportation Device. While it differs in its mechanics from conventional magic, its underlying principle is similar. It allows instantaneous spatial relocation."

Adam's eyes widened. "Teleportation? You mean I can just... blink away?"

"Precisely," Lyra confirmed. "And its capabilities are far beyond standard teleportation spells in this world. It can create a wide radius of teleportation, limited only by the amount of mana you can pour into it. It is instantaneous, requiring no chants, no spell casting, and no complex pentagrams. This is truly a one-of-a-kind artifact, likely provided by the 'Above.'"

A wave of exhilaration washed over Adam. "No cooldown? No rituals? That's incredible! This could get me out of any jam!" He let out a shout, a mix of relief and pure, unadulterated happiness. This was a game-changer. "But... it won't get me out of the Unknown Lands, right? Only to places I've been before?"

"Correct," Lyra affirmed, tempering his excitement with the device's limitations. "The rules remain. You cannot teleport to other worlds, nor to unknown locations, or new locations outside your current range of sight. However, it can create multiple teleportation portals simultaneously, and indefinitely, as long as you have sufficient mana."

Adam's mind raced. The implications were staggering. Instant escapes. Tactical repositioning. He suddenly thought of something else. "Lyra, if this thing is so powerful, and it operates with mana... can we fuse it with my body too? Like the Universal Shaping Tool?"

Lyra paused, and for the first time, Adam detected a hint of... amusement in her usually clinical voice. "Adam, you are becoming quite the unique specimen. Fusing yet another complex artifact into your biological system. At this rate, you'll be more machine than human. But yes, given your unprecedented mana manipulation and my integration, it is technically feasible. The complexity of this device, once unraveled, will grant you an innate mastery of spatial relocation, far surpassing any spellcaster in this world."

Adam actually laughed, a genuine, joyful sound. "A robot, huh? Sounds like a good deal if it keeps me alive."

The Ultimate Escape

With a mental command, Adam initiated the fusion. The Teleportation Device dissolved into a shimmering stream of mana, flowing into his core. He felt a deep, resonant hum, a new layer of intricate knowledge settling within his being. His mana system now held the secrets of instant travel, the ability to bend space to his will. He possessed a power beyond the normal spells of this world.

He was now rested, healed, armed with a Universal Shaping Tool integrated into his body, and a personal, instant teleportation ability. His ultimate goal – to find Emily – suddenly felt much more attainable.
