Chapter 2 - Proof of a forgotten king

After their first encounter, Natasha couldn't shake the feeling that Varyon was telling the truth. His words, his presence, and—above all—the strange energy he had displayed made it impossible for her to dismiss him.

That night, she sat with him in a quiet part of the school courtyard, explaining how the world had changed.

---

Scene 1: Learning the Modern World

Natasha: "The world isn't like the one you remember. Empires have fallen, kings no longer rule. Technology, science, and governments shape everything now."

Varyon listened intently, absorbing her every word with unwavering focus. In mere days, he learned what most would take years to understand. His intelligence was beyond anything Natasha had ever seen.

Varyon: "The gods may have erased me from history, but history itself has left clues."

His confidence startled her. He was not just a warrior; he was a ruler, a strategist.

Realizing she couldn't help him alone, Natasha decided it was time to introduce him to her closest friends—her archaeology team.

Scene 2: Meeting the Team

In a small study room at school, Natasha brought Varyon to meet her team:

Ryan Carter – the team's history expert, sharp-minded but skeptical.

Jake Williams – their field expert, the strongest of the group.

Sophia Lin – the map specialist, detail-oriented and precise.

As soon as they sat down, Ryan leaned forward, arms crossed.

Ryan: "So, Natasha tells us you have some wild stories. A lost king, a forgotten kingdom? Let's hear it."

Varyon, unshaken by the skepticism, stood tall.

Varyon: "I ruled an empire that reached the heavens. I built the Path of Ascension, a road to the realm of the gods. In their fear, they destroyed it—and me. But now, I have returned."

The room fell silent. Then Jake scoffed.

Jake: "Right. And I'm Alexander the Great."

Sensing their doubts, Varyon stepped forward.

Varyon: "If you require proof… I will give it to you."

He placed his index finger on the wooden table.

A dark, shadow-like substance crawled out from his fingertip, slithering across the surface.

The team froze, their bodies tensing. Even Natasha, though she had seen his abilities before, felt a chill—but she was getting used to it.

The shadows carved a set of numbers into the table—coordinates.

Varyon: "Go here. You will find what remains of one of my nine castles."

Ryan quickly pulled up a map, entering the coordinates. His eyes widened in disbelief.

Ryan: "Wait… this location is just a few miles away."

Jake leaned closer, recognizing the area.

Jake: "That's… the old football stadium."

Sophia's face paled.

Sophia: "That place is restricted. No one's allowed to enter anymore, as few years ago castle remains have been found there."

A chill ran down Natasha's spine. If Varyon was telling the truth, then history itself had been rewritten.

Varyon looked at the shocked faces of Natasha and her team, their skepticism shaken after witnessing his eerie display of power. But he knew that illusions and words were not enough.

Varyon: "If you want true proof, take me to the battlefield where you found me."

Natasha hesitated.

Natasha: "You mean… the ruins of the battlefield?"

Varyon: "Yes. I can give you even more proof there."

She glanced at her team. None of them spoke, still unsettled by what they had just witnessed. But curiosity overpowered their doubt.

Ryan pulled out his phone, checking the site's security status.

Ryan: "The excavation team is still working there, but we should be able to get in. We have permission—except for him."

He gestured at Varyon.

Jake: "If we tell the principal he's an independent researcher, we might get approval."

Sophia: "We'd need to be careful. That site is still restricted."

After some quick discussions, Natasha convinced the principal to let Varyon come along, arguing that he had already given them valuable insights.

The next morning, they set out once more, heading for the ancient battlefield where Natasha had first found him—the place that had unknowingly become the beginning of their journey.

Scene 3: The Forgotten Kingdom Revealed

Standing in the vast, desolate ruins, Varyon felt something stir deep within him. His kingdom had been here—once glorious, now nothing but dust.

He led the group back to the cave where Natasha had discovered him. As they entered, the air grew heavy, charged with unseen power.

Ryan (nervous): "This place… it feels different."

Natasha: "Varyon, what are we looking for?"

Varyon walked to the very center of the cave and raised his hand.

Varyon: "Look beyond what your eyes can see."

His shadowy aura flared. Darkness crawled across the cave walls, moving like liquid ink. Then, as if peeling away time itself—the cave transformed.

Suddenly, they were no longer standing in ruins. They were inside a grand throne room—a spectral illusion of what once was.

Towering pillars of black stone rose high, banners embroidered with a forgotten emblem fluttered in an invisible wind. The sound of marching soldiers, the clashing of swords, the distant echo of a king's command—it all returned for a fleeting moment.

Natasha and her friends stood frozen.

Sophia (whispering): "This… this isn't possible."

Varyon turned to face them, his voice filled with unshaken certainty.

Varyon: "This was my kingdom. My throne. My war."

For the first time, Ryan had no words.

The illusions faded, leaving them back in the dark, empty cave. But the image had been burned into their minds forever.

Natasha slowly exhaled.

Natasha: "I believe you."

And with those three words, history began to unravel itself once more.
