Chapter 1 - 《One Piece: Rising》Chapter 1: Crossing into One Piece, Lighting Cigarettes with Belly!

Hello everyone, I am the Brain-Brain Fruit user. ( ̄▽ ̄~)

The One Piece world.

Marine Headquarters, Marineford. Judicial Hall of the Ministry of Justice.

The three-headed judge sat imposingly at the highest seat, six pairs of eyes gleaming with a chilling light as they fixed upon the defendant's stand.

To the judge's left, Fleet Admiral Sengoku stared gravely at the stack of documents before him.

The jury seats were occupied entirely by high-ranking Marine officers.

Seated in the front row were two of the Marines' three most powerful Admirals—Admiral Sakazuki and Admiral Borsalino. Flanking them were the Admiral candidates, Vice Admiral Gion (Momousagi) and Vice Admiral Tokikake.

Behind them sat a full contingent of Headquarters Vice Admirals, led by Momonga, Onigumo, Doberman, and Yamakaji. Like Sengoku, the two Admirals and most of the Vice Admirals wore solemn expressions as they gazed at the empty defendant's stand.

On both sides of the hall, dozens of Marine officers had gathered. With the trial yet to begin, they whispered among themselves.

"Silence!"

Suddenly, the judge raised his gavel and brought it down with a thunderous crack. "The trial begins now!"

After a brief pause, the three-headed judge turned toward the main doors, all three mouths speaking in unison: "Bring in the accused!"

Meanwhile, outside the courtroom doors.

Xayuki, dressed in the uniform of a Marine Vice Admiral, stood before the tightly shut doors, lost in thought.

Six years had passed since he was unexpectedly transported to the world of One Piece.

During these six years, through relentless effort, he had mastered the Six Powers, Armament Haki, and Observation Haki. He had honed his swordsmanship to the level of a Great Swordsman, and a year ago, had unexpectedly awakened Conqueror's Haki.

Of course, none of that really mattered.

What truly mattered was that when he first joined the Marines, it wasn't for some lofty ideal of justice. He simply wanted to survive as long as possible in this world.

Thus, while diligently training to improve his strength, he also made every effort to build good relationships with his colleagues.

He firmly believed that regardless of the world—even in a place as brutal as the One Piece universe—human connections and social skills were universal constants.

Through his interactions with colleagues, he gradually discovered that the rank-and-file Marines lived incredibly harsh lives. Not only did they constantly face death in battles against powerful pirates, but they also struggled with daily survival!

The salaries of Marine soldiers were practically negligible, with the higher-ups always justifying meager pay in the name of "justice."

As a transmigrator with no family or ties in this world, Xayuki didn't care much about salary. As long as he had a place to sleep and food to eat, he was content. But his fellow Marines couldn't afford such simplicity—they had families to support.

Upon realizing this, whenever his salary arrived, he used it to help colleagues in need.

Gradually, more and more Marines became his friends. When accompanying senior officers on pirate-hunting missions, those who had received his help would always rush to form a protective wall around him, ensuring his safety.

As his strength grew and his reputation spread throughout Headquarters, he soon caught the attention of the Marine officers.

After a year of field missions, he joined the officer training camp. Upon completing the six-month program, he was promoted to Ensign, gaining his own subordinates and a significant pay increase.

Using his position, he began amassing wealth through various means, channeling all "illicit" funds to subordinates in need. He even collaborated with bounty hunters, deliberately letting certain pirates escape so that hunters—who were in on the scheme—could capture them later and split the bounty with him.

As time passed, his strength soared, and his rank rose accordingly. In just a few short years, he became a Vice Admiral of Marine Headquarters.

By the time he reached this rank, over tens of thousands of Marines had benefited from his assistance. Many of them, freed from their worries, devoted themselves wholeheartedly to the cause of justice and stood firmly by his side.

Some became his subordinates, while others, out of gratitude, regarded him as their beacon of hope.

But good times never last.

While diverting a substantial amount of public funds to aid struggling officers, he was caught by the Marine Headquarters' Internal Affairs Division. After a three-month investigation, they arrested him and threw him in prison.

As Xayuki stood before the tightly shut courtroom doors, lost in thought, they suddenly swung open.

Two bailiffs quickly approached, standing at attention and saluting him. Despite his status as a prisoner, their eyes reflected not disdain but profound respect.

"Vice Admiral Xayuki—"

Before he could respond, the dozens of Marine officers standing in formation behind him simultaneously stepped forward.

Hearing this, Xayuki turned around, his gentle gaze sweeping over the officers' fervent expressions. A faint smile touched his lips.

Without further hesitation, he straightened his back, lifted his chin, and strode confidently into the courtroom.

Whoosh—

The moment Xayuki entered, the Marine officers seated on both sides of the hall rose almost in unison, turning to face him. Some wore expressions of fervent devotion, others clenched their fists tightly, and many looked on with eager anticipation. A few, however, were visibly sweating with anxiety!

Those with fervent expressions or hopeful gazes were the ones who had benefited from Xayuki's kindness. The anxious ones were his collaborators over the years—those who feared that if Xayuki revealed their involvement during the trial, they would share his fate behind bars.

Xayuki paid no attention to the standing officers. He walked directly to the defendant's stand and looked up at the three-headed judge.

Seeing this, all the standing officers turned back to face the judge as well.

"Vice Admiral Xayuki!"

Feeling the sudden, overwhelming pressure filling the room, the judge swallowed hard before striking his gavel. In a deep voice, he declared: "The evidence of your embezzlement and bribery is complete. According to the Internal Affairs Division's investigation, you have embezzled a total of 200 billion Belly since joining Marine Headquarters. Do you admit to these charges?"

"Yes," Xayuki nodded.

"Very well!" The judge visibly relaxed before continuing: "However, after three months of exhaustive investigation, searching every possible location, the Internal Affairs Division found only 120,000 Belly in your residence! Where are the remaining 200 billion Belly you embezzled? Were there others who colluded with you and shared in the spoils?"

At these words, the entire courtroom fell deathly silent.

Some were moved by the revelation that despite embezzling such a vast sum, Xayuki had kept almost none for himself. They knew he had helped them tremendously over the years, but hadn't realized the extent of his selflessness.

Others, however, nearly suffocated with anxiety upon hearing the judge ask about potential accomplices.

"There were no accomplices!"

Xayuki's voice rang out like a great bell, echoing clearly throughout the courtroom for all to hear. "I spent it all myself."

"You're lying!" The judge's voice rose sharply. "According to the investigation, you own no assets, live in Headquarters-issued quarters, and haven't even replaced your furniture in six years. How could one person possibly spend 200 billion Belly?!"

Xayuki's expression remained unchanged as he calmly replied: "I like to light my cigarettes with Belly."
