Chapter 47 - Echoes of the Fallen

The collapsing dungeon morphed into a surreal landscape. The shattered remnants of obsidian and crystal floated midair, suspended like glass shards frozen in time. Kaen stood still, his gaze cast upward where a second rift began forming—one not tied to the gate, but to something deeper.

A sudden voice shattered the silence. "Everyone okay?" It was Kyel, limping toward the group.

"I've been better," Leon muttered, clutching a bruised arm.

Mira helped Lirien to her feet. "We need to get out before this entire place unravels."

Zian nodded, her eyes still unfocused. She could feel the warmth of memories brushing the edge of her mind, like light through curtains.

"Exit's forming east of the cavern," Kaen said. "Follow the shadows. They'll guide you."

"You're not coming?" Lirien asked.

Kaen turned toward her with a crooked smile. "I have something to collect."

As the others made their way toward the exit, Kaen approached a lone remnant left behind—the fractured heart of the Titan. He placed a hand on it, and the shadows coiled around the core, vanishing into his palm.

Just before the rift closed, Zian turned to look back. She saw Kaen standing there, arms outstretched, shadows rippling from his form.

"Who… what are you?" she whispered.

Kaen's red eyes glinted. "You already know who I am," he said, his voice echoing like thunder in a canyon.
