Chapter 2 - Answers

Somewhere unknown…

In a place beyond the reach of common mortals, a magical presence approaching the divine could be felt by anyone nearby.

A small, insignificant, and impotent messenger approaches said presence. Every cell of his body knows that any minor wrong word he might say would result in his death; yet, he has to make the report.

"Your majesty… The capture—"

"Well? Where is she?"

"The exorcist lost her…"

"Lost her?"

"But you don't have to worry! We'll make sure to catch her next time! This time a low-rank exorcist chased her, but next time—"

The aura intensifies, the messenger starts to sweat even though the air is as cold as ice…

"Where did you see her?"

"Neverland, your majesty."

"Interesting, you might want to talk with Victoria then, she will help you find her. She still has to fulfill her part of our contract; she can't reject this request."

"Wonderful idea. I'll be heading out if you permit."

"Quickly."

"!!"

She is unhappy, and he can clearly feel it. As the aura intensifies even more, it's as if his brain starts to process all the fears he accumulated since he was born, all together, making him run away in panic.

In the end learning this world's language might be easier than I initially thought. It follows grammatical rules almost identical to Italian. If everything goes well, I might master it in a few days at most.

I'm currently in an inn, in a room with Lyet. We came here after what happened yesterday. To be more precise, I decided to follow her since I was incapable of doing anything alone. She paid for two rooms for a few nights.

I also had her help me find some books where I could study the language. She even helped me with the pronunciation of the letters. Since it's similar to a language I already know, it's just a matter of learning as many words as possible now. I can now even understand when she speaks, but only the basics.

"You need-----?" I assume she is asking if I need help

"No, t-tank yo-uu" I still have problems when it comes to speaking, as well as listening, but I don't have problems in writing and reading. I can even understand new words based on the context.

She smiles and stands up from the bed she was sitting on until a moment prior, and walks towards me, peeking at the page I'm reading.

I'm still wondering why she was in that situation when I met her, but I don't think it's a topic I should open at my current level.

"Were is library?" I almost finished this book, and I need another one.

"Come with me." She tries to make short and easy sentences for me.

I stand up, she puts her hoodie on, and we go out.

Wow… The library is enormous, taller than anything I've seen in my world. I bet you wouldn't be able to read all the books conserved here, not even in a lifetime.

We enter, from the inside it seems even bigger, there are a minimum of thousands of bookshelves floating.

"Histrio, I have things to do. I'll wait here after that."

"Oh, s-sure." And so she leaves.

I prefer to speak with someone instead of randomly searching for something myself.

I soon notice someone with the symbol of the library on the vest—she must be a wizard working here, she has the classical long coat and long hat.

"So-ry, I need -elp."

She looks at me, puzzled. After a moment, she starts performing some kind of magical spell, and I instinctively step back.

"You aren't from this world, am I correct?"

"How do you know? And… Why can you speak my language?"

"I used a spell that facilitates conversations. From your perspective, we are talking in your language, from mine in the human language. To answer the first question, a human who can't speak the human language is way too uncommon. You also were scared of a female's spell, meaning you don't know how magic works at all. And now that I take a look, you don't seem to possess mana."

"I see… Wait! Since I can speak freely… I have so many questions, I don't even know where to start, but first… How can I go back to my world?"

"In the same way you arrived, someone has to use a dimensional travel spell."

"Are you implying someone summoned me here on purpose?"

"Correct, it isn't something that happens naturally."

"Who might he be?"

"'Who might SHE be?' would be the correct question. Only women can use that type of magic. You see, magic varies between genres; males only have access to 'black magic', a magic made to destroy and harm. Females, on the other hand, have access to 'white magic', which does the exact opposite, heals and helps people. It's a bit more complex than this, but it's enough for you to have the general idea."

Maybe it was Lyet then? But how come? She didn't know me.

"Dimensional travel spells, specifically, are also considered semi-divine level. It means there's no common mortal who would be able to use it in the slightest. I think I have a book briefly explaining the creation of humankind, it talks about semi-gods as well, it might be useful to you."

"I would really appreciate that... Thank you."

"Here you go."

She casts a spell, and the next moment, a book, tens of meters above us, flies to me. It's small, I'll be able to read it tonight.

It's midnight. Lyet is in her room, I'm going to sleep soon.

I've read the book. To keep it short, a semi-god is someone, a mortal, who has been created directly by God. The names I could find are Adam and Eve, who are considered the first mortals, but also Tiamat, a semi-goddess, whose purpose is to spread the word of God. If dimensional travel is accessible only to females, then who summoned me here must be either Eve or Tiamat, and therefore, they seem to be the only ones who can bring me back. They all live in the Garden of Eden, but its location is unknown...

For now, I'll go to sleep, tomorrow I'll research more...

I'm starting to miss them. Sigh...
