Haozhou seemed to have selectively forgotten how Aenwyn had once stepped on him.
"Don't you want to keep her all to yourself?" Haozhou said temptingly. "I have power, and you have strong connections. We can fully control the entire Citong Town."
"Think about it, no need to share with anyone else. She would belong only to you and me." His voice grew more excited.
Hey, I'm still alive, not a piece of dead meat. Aenwyn silently grumbled from the side.
Indigo slowly stood up. His stomach had started bleeding again from the earlier effort.
"So?" Haozhou looked at him with anticipation.
Indigo just said calmly, "Nothing."
Haozhou's face turned cold. He looked at Indigo's trembling hand, shaking from the pain, and laughed.
"If you don't want to share, then go die." As soon as he said it, he launched an attack on Indigo.
He was fierce and cunning.
Normally, Haozhou would never dare provoke Indigo. But things were different now. Indigo was injured.
His leg was hurt, but if he endured it, he could still manage. Strike while he's weak, and kill him.
Only if Indigo died could the beauty truly belong to him.
Aenwyn watched Indigo with worry. He was in danger, and clearly not as agile as before.
After a few moves, the two faced each other again.
"Are you really not going to reconsider? Instead of fighting to the death, why not share her?" Haozhou said, panting. His eyes were fixed on Indigo's whip.
Share, my foot. Aenwyn grew so furious she spat out blood.
"Pfft." With that sound, both men turned to look.
They both looked concerned. But who they were worried for, no one could tell.
Aenwyn noticed that after spitting the blood, she could speak again.
"Share? What are you thinking?" Aenwyn looked at Haozhou with mocking eyes.
A woman's mockery could be deadly, especially from a beautiful woman.
Haozhou couldn't help but ask, "How am I worse than him?"
Aenwyn paused. Her meaning was that she didn't want either of them, but it seemed Haozhou misunderstood.
Still…
After coughing up blood, Aenwyn realized she was starting to recover. She just couldn't move yet. She needed a little more time.
"He's better looking, taller, and younger than you?" she started talking nonsense.
The man across from her was stunned. Better looking and taller he could understand, but younger?
"You like younger?"
In the dark, Indigo also looked surprised.
What, is there something wrong with younger? Aenwyn realized her own words sounded a bit off.
"Younger ones are fine. Good waist, good legs, and they know how to act cute." Aenwyn said as if it was completely normal. "What do you have?"
Haozhou looked at Indigo with an expression full of complicated emotions.
This guy usually looked so cold, and yet he could act cute in front of a beauty? Never judge a book by its cover.
Indigo's face suddenly flushed. No one could tell if it was from embarrassment or something else.
Aenwyn didn't care anymore.
Just a bit longer, and she'd be able to move.
Then the conversation became more ridiculous, like waves in the sea, even though moments ago they were trying to kill each other.
Haozhou started arguing back. "He's still a virgin, what's so good about that? I'm older than him."
Older? In what way? What was this guy even talking about?
"Beauty, you haven't experienced the pleasure of someone bigger." Haozhou said proudly.
It wasn't entirely his fault. In a society short on women, men tended to be blunt about certain things.
"Really?" Aenwyn asked with a doubtful expression, pretending to be swayed.
She was already able to move her hands and feet, secretly testing them.
"Yes, he's no good."
Haozhou spoke loudly and firmly. In his eyes, Indigo had been with her so long and still hadn't done anything. If that wasn't proof, then what was?
After he said that, no one spoke. The words were short, but their impact was intense.
Aenwyn looked down, avoiding Indigo's direction.
"Heh." Indigo laughed, but there was no amusement in his eyes.
Aenwyn felt his laugh was a little chilling.
Then the whip lashed out. The strike was breathtaking. The force of the jump made it look like he was going to whip Haozhou to death.
Aenwyn's eyes widened. It seemed men across time and place all cared about whether they were "good enough."
Smack. The sound of flesh splitting.
"Is he dead?" she asked cautiously, looking at the motionless figure on the ground.
Indigo walked over, blood seeping from his abdomen, and asked, "I'm no good?"
"No, that wasn't me!" Aenwyn gave an awkward laugh. Now that she could move, she started crawling away quickly.
But the strange, beautiful young man pinned her down.
"Let's find out," he said.
