KREEK
The ice cracked, unable to withstand the pressure of the water. The Jaegers, who had been working for several days, stood watching the boundless space that was formed by the fall of the meteorite.
A 200-meter-wide tunnel was cut through the ice in the mountains. The pilots let out a weary sigh of relief. Inside the Jaegers, there was nowhere to sleep and it was not even possible to go to the toilet and wash. The pilots had to go outside and go to a specially equipped temporary town. Every time they went outside it was very cold and it was not a pleasant experience.
After tunneling through the mountains, they felt a false sense of completion. Why misleading? Because they needed to make 100 such tunnels around Antarctica.
The tunnel was not only wide, but also deep enough for water to flow through it. The Jaegers ignored the water that filled the tunnel and continued to work, standing up to their waists in water. Now they only have to destroy the last meters so that the water begins to fill the crater.
"Shall we use a grenade?" One of the pilots asked over the radio.
"We'd better not do that. The tunnel may collapse and we will have to clear it."
"Somebody needs to break this dam by hand."
"We will try. Move away so you don't get washed away by the water." The pilots of one of the largest Jaegers said. This Jaeger was green in color and he was taller and heavier than the others.
He stood in front of the ice dam and thought about how best to destroy it. The rest of the Jaegers came out of the tunnel and took good seats to watch the grand opening.
The ice cracked on its own as the water pressed against it. It was only necessary to make a push for the dam to collapse. Jaeger decided to just push the ice with his shoulder. He took a few steps back to accelerate. Metal hummed and creaked as the pilots prepared to run.
SHHHHH
The Jaeger ran, stirring the water around. Having gained enough speed, he put his shoulder forward and hit the ice wall with it.
BOOM
KRREECK
Jaeger did not have time to understand whether he was able to break the wall or not, as the water began to push him forward. The ice dam quickly shattered into pieces and the water rushed forward, knocking Jaeger off his feet. Together with fragments of ice and water, it began to fall into the crater. Fortunately, there was no sharp cliff, but the slope was enough that he overturned several times.
Far from the mountains, when the water parted, the Jaeger finally stopped. He was lying on his back with his arms and legs spread and water flowing around him.
"It was humiliating. It was not necessary to overclock. You could just throw something from a distance and the dam would collapse."
"HA-HA-HA. Are you ok? Wet your pants?" The other pilots joked. They captured on video how the Green Jaeger tried to stop, but the water mercilessly knocked him off his feet.
"Very funny." The pilots answered without mood, continuing to lie on the ground.
Water flowed non-stop through the tunnel made by the Jaegers. A wide and powerful stream of water spread over the surrounding area.
"Even such a flow of water will not be enough to lower the ocean level. At this rate, the crater will be filled only in a couple of decades." Someone commented on the radio.
"That is why we are here. We won't stop until we make enough of these holes."
"Hey, people! I see something." The Green Jaeger noticed some light emerging from the darkness of the smoke and ash that continued to fall from the sky.
"It must be Gipsy Danger coming back."
"Maybe, but I see two sources of light." Next to the lanterns of white light, another light source appeared and it was orange.
PPPRRRRRR
The next moment, a powerful golden ray shot out from the depths of darkness and ash. This beam of energy and fire quickly struck the mountains of ice not far from their tunnel.
BOOOM
There was a great explosion of fire and heat, and the mountains immediately began to crack and fall. The fire enveloped the ice. The ice was cracking and melting before everyone's eyes. The beam of fire did not end and continued to drill through the mountains. Steam, fire, and boiling water spread all around, forcing the Jaegers to retreat.
PPPRRRR
The beam seemed to increase its power and another loud explosion rang out in the mountains. The tunnel, which Jaegers had been digging for several days, cracked and collapsed. Huge fragments of ice fell into the tunnel and blocked the water.
"Hey!! Our tunnel!" Someone shouted indignantly. But he immediately fell silent when he noticed the destruction caused by the stream of golden fire.
It would seem that the mountains have completely melted and sunlight illuminated the area around. Now that the sunlight had filtered through the mountains, Gipsy Danger and Torterra could be seen continuing to shoot fire from its mouth. He moved his head to the side and directed the beam to the side, slowly widening the opening in the mountains.
The water did not wait and immediately began to flow through the hole made. With every second, a wider and wider gap formed between the mountains. And when Torterra stopped emitting fire and closed his mouth, you could see an area 1 km wide, through which a large mass of water flowed into the crater.
Seeing this, everyone immediately forgot about their tunnel. Torterra literally vaporized the mountains. If you make several such holes, then water will fill the crater in Antarctica, and this will reduce the overall level of the ocean very quickly.
"Let's go home. We have nothing to do here. We have wasted these days of our lives." The pilots of the green Jaeger said melancholy.
"Haha! They found him! Now everything will be fine and our work will be done quickly." Someone on the radio had a completely different vision of the situation. These words made the pilots smile. They lacked such a positive attitude.
POV: Environmental Forum
A few weeks after the events in Antarctica, many scientists and politicians gathered in New York. People from different professions and from different levels of power participated in an environmental forum held at Madison Square Garden.
All of New York was flooded and the city was paralyzed. All the first floors of the buildings were under water. But now that the ocean level has receded, the city has come back to life. It was difficult, but together people were able to overcome it. People cleaned and fixed everything day and night. In just a week, the former activity returned to the city. The transport wasn't work yet, but people still walked from building to building. Many switched to bicycles, and there were even people who made money by riding people on the back seat of their bicycle.
Madison Square Garden was filled with people. It was decided to hold the forum here to show the indomitability of the human spirit. The city, which has not yet fully recovered from the disaster, became the center of world attention. Because it was difficult to get here because of broken cars on the roads, people were brought in by helicopter.
Marshal also came to this meeting. As a member of the world council, he had to deal with politics. Although he himself wanted to watch the forum in his office from the monitors.
After a few minutes of greetings and introductions, the forum officially opened.
The first topic discussed here was the problem of hunger.
"We all know that ocean water is salty." Standing on the stage, some unknown person began to tell. "Unfortunately for us, the flooding of fields in the coastal regions has catastrophic consequences. Ocean water contains a large amount of salts, especially sodium and chloride. This caused soil salinization. Salinity affects the ability of plants to absorb water through the roots, which leads to their languor and death.
This suggests that we lost not only this year's harvest. In regions that were flooded, the land became unfit for cultivation for several years or even decades."
Many people knew about it, but despite this, a heated discussion began in the hall. People took to the stage to express their concerns about this issue and to propose solutions to speed up the cleansing of the earth from salts.
"Harvest loss causes many problems. As long as there is still food in the warehouses, we will not feel it. But next year there will be famine in many countries."
"What can we do to improve the situation?"
"There are countries in the world where the soil is very favorable for growing food. Countries such as India and Ukraine are now leaders in the export of agricultural products. Ukraine alone feeds half a billion people. This is a lot for such a small country. But this country does not produce anything for half the year because of winter. If we can overcome this problem, then the yield can be doubled."
"How to do it?" Someone shouted from the hall.
"I propose to create greenhouses, and in order for their number to be satisfactory, a lot of money is needed. Since our survival depends on it, I offer to create greenhouses for free in general."
"We cannot cover all the fields with greenhouses. It is impossible!"
"Yes you're right. This alone will not be enough to double exports. So I would like to show you something. Pay attention to the monitor…"
As soon as the projector began to project some image on a white background, the light in the entire building disappeared. The hall was plunged into complete darkness, and people began to turn on the lights on their mobile phones. The whole hall turned into a kind of party like at a music concert, where people raise their hands in the air with their phones on.
No one knew what was happening, but everyone waited in silence. After 10 minutes, the light was turned on again.
"Sorry for the inconvenience. There are still problems with electricity in New York. Allow me to continue. Look at this image."
An image was projected onto a white background that made people laugh. There was a photo of an orange pumpkin.
"Yes, it's a pumpkin. But if you pay attention to the lower left corner of this photo, then you will notice something interesting."
As the person on the podium said, what the people there noticed caused admiration and a standing ovation. Near the pumpkin you could see a small person standing with his hands up. Judging by the proportions in relation to a person, this pumpkin was the size of a house.
"It is incredibly!"
"Is it possible?"
People were delighted. Various conversations and noise arose in the hall, and it was difficult to stop it. People here were not simple, and they immediately began to invent different things.
