Chapter 20 - Summoning the Goddess

Convincing the other Holy Knights wasn't difficult. It's just that Jaden wanted the others to feel the same with how I travel with my slip magic so every time we found the next Holy Knight, he told them to get used with my magic first to travel even though the first person we went to look for is someone who can use teleportation magic.

What happened after that? Some vomiting happened.

Then after the mage, we went for the next Holy Knight. To which Jaden told that Holy Knight the same thing he said to the previous mage. And to which the mage agreed to.

Then the next one, three people agreed. The next one again, four people agreed. Until the last one, all six people agreed.

At least I know a bit about their closeness with each other. Or maybe their hatred with each other. Though their hatred is aimed at me instead of Jaden or other Holy Knight afterward.

After the last Holy Knight vomits, the space mage teleport all of us back to the temple.

"It has to be important or I will kill that kid!" the last Holy Knight shouts. He has a really bad temper it seems.

Seven Holy Knights. These are the Holy Knights who know other Holy Knights. There might be more of them but they never bothered to ask the Goddess.

In the order of when I meet them, the first Holy Knight I met is Jaden. He should be the Boss of this dungeon in the game but it turns out that reality hides a surprise. He's not just any old knight. He's a knight picked by the Goddess herself.

The second one is the space mage who teleported all eight of us back to this temple. Her name is Rosalinda. She looks to be around her 40s but she might be older.

Oh, just thinking about it and she's already glaring at me. That's scary.

The third one is an adult man. He's a father whom we kidnapped in front of his family. Well, his family members recognized Rosalinda and Jaden as his friends so they let him be kidnapped. His name is Keith. Jaden said that he used to just be a B-rank adventurer and already retired to the countryside. The same rank as me right now. But I know too well that the rank doesn't mean the strength. He might be really strong.

The fourth one is a young man who is probably just a couple years older than me. He works as a librarian in Dahlia. The city where Dahlia Academy is located. Maybe he's not a combatant so he didn't help at all in the game.

His name is Felix. A smart-looking man with glasses and the only one who showed curiosity about my slip magic when I took him to the next person. While the others were lying down and closing their eyes, he's also lying down but his eyes were open. He even shouted excitedly as if he was riding a thrill ride in an amusement park.

The fifth one was also shouting. But unlike Felix, she didn't vomit the first time she tried it. That's just like Natasha. Is it only something younger women experience? They didn't vomit.

Oops. Rosalinda is glaring at me again. Let's not think about age again.

She's not much older than me. And she's just a receptionist for an adventurer guild in another city. Well, no one was in the same place after all.

Her name is Sabine. She's used to handling rough people because of her job. I wonder how she got picked to be a Holy Knight. Maybe they all have special something that intrigued the Goddess.

The sixth one is the last woman in the group. She's actually a Duchess in Stormwind. And actually, Emerald City is still her territory. Duchess Johanna. The people in her territory were proud to have a wise Duchess to be in charge of their hometown. She must be really good at what she does. And yes, being a Duchess is her own status and not because she's married to a Duke. Rather, I don't know if she's married at all.

The last one, the one with the bad temper, he lives in a jungle. It was hard to find him because he has no permanent residence. But with everyone's effort, we found him in just a couple of hours roaming the jungle.

He's a huge scary guy. His name is Sven. I can tell right away he's strong.

So, these are the seven Holy Knights that we know. I only know Jaden and Duchess Johanna who were in the game. Maybe Felix and Sabine were in the game as well but I don't remember them because they're just ordinary NPCs in the game.

As for Rosalinda, Keith, and Sven, I don't think they're in the game. At least I know Sven wasn't in the game because his appearance was so obvious. Unless he suddenly has a change of heart with his fashion to not look like he's a man of a jungle anymore and starts roaming cities. Then I won't know if he's there or not.

"I can assure you that it's important. Now, can you summon the Goddess for me? We have a lot to talk. You can just listen," I say.

"If you lie I will kill you," Sven says.

And then without any warning, a pair of fingerless gloves appears on his hands. Then the gloves start shining.

It's not just him. The others have their weapons or items suddenly appear on their hands and start shining just like Sven's.

It's a long sword for Jaden. Not the one I broke before. For Rosalinda, it's a staff. Keith has a bow and Felix has a pen. Maybe because pen is mightier than sword for him. For Sabine, her bracelet starts glowing and it's a necklace for Duchess Johanna. Now it's no longer weapon but accessories?

Those items must be used to summon the Goddess. Maybe they're Holy Artifacts? They're not in the game at least.

We're in the last room of this temple where I fought Jaden before. It's quite large and everyone is standing on one side looking at another side to summon the Goddess.

Then the light from the items they held shine toward a single spot before a humanoid form can be seen by everyone. She's a beautiful woman but I know she's not a human. There's this feeling about her that makes me feel that she's not human. Let's just say it's something divine.

[Everyone. It has been a while,] the Goddess says.

"It has been a while, Goddess!"

It's just Keith who kneeled in front of her. The others are just casually greeting her like old friends. I guess Keith is the most religious.

[It's good that there are seven of you here. Now I can stay here longer than usual,] the Goddess says before she pays attention to me.

"Hello," I say.

[…Hello, reincarnator,] the Goddess says.

"Just call me Miro," I say.

Though everyone is shocked when they hear that I'm a reincarnator. Including Sven. But he doesn't look as wild as I expected of him now. He looks like he's smart enough to know that this is something important because a reincarnator is here.

"So… what should we talk about first? Are you the one who brought me to this world?" I ask.

[Maybe,] she says.

Maybe? Why maybe? Why doesn't she know?

"What's with the maybe?" I ask.

[My Divine power almost ran out completely seventeen years ago all of a sudden when I knew I should have quite a lot. It's exactly on your birthday. And then a couple of years ago, while I was watching you, you started moving around as if you know exactly where to go despite never leaving Vassel in your entire life before. So I assumed that you're a reincarnator because I lost the power to reincarnate someone after you were born. Even after recovering enough Divine power to do that again now, I still can't do it. So my memory must have gone after reincarnating you. Which can only mean one thing,] the Goddess says.

"What is it?" It's Jaden who asks instead of me.

[That I used time travel magic to return back to the past to the time where you were born. Time travel is possible but when I do it, I know I will lose my memory of what went through before I use this power,] she explains.

So even if she can turn back to the past, nothing will change because she will forget everything. But because she reincarnates me along with returning to the past, we have this conversation.

"So… you want me to explain to you why I got reincarnated?" I ask.

[Yes.]

It's not her explaining things! I'm the one who needs to explain things to her!

"How can I explain things to you that you can believe especially when I'm from another world? I came from a totally different world than this so how can I make you believe me?" I ask.

[Then I must have sent a message to you that you can relay to me. You must have a certain code that only I know from the message. Relay to me that code and I will believe you,] the Goddess says.

A message? There's only a game! The entire game is a message about the future that can happen?

And what's the secret code? It must be in the game.

Oh, I think I know it.

"Everyone is calling you the Goddess but is your name Asdis?"

It's indeed in the game. But not in the game itself. Instead, it's in the credit. It's a game created using a certain RPG game creation program that can be done by one person and that one person name that came out in the credit is Asdis.

I liked the game as a kid and teenager so I looked up the name of the creator but I couldn't find any other game created by the same person. Only the game 'Kill All Demons' is created by Asdis. And after looking up because it's an unusual name for me, it turns out that the meaning of the name Asdis is the Goddess in some language. But what if that's her name?

[…You're right. Everyone calls me the Goddess but my name is Asdis. I have never told anyone about this so I'm now confident that you have a message from the future me and that's the reason I reincarnated you,] the Goddess says.

"A message? You make a fucking game! A fucking 50-hours game!"
