Act ONE scene two

🎬

That was a mouth-watering cuisine my querida, hope my boy is kicking well.

~Mateo

I don't mind you giving your mother solace over the loss of her beloved husband, but I do have a big issue with you prioritizing her before me, especially when we both know she doesn't like me.

~Esmeralda

You need to stop seeing my mother as your enemy, these are false accusations. I believe my mother does not dislike you.

~Mateo

Or maybe she does not, maybe our marriage fills her with abhorrence.

Oh! Mateo!

Your dearest mother has always expressed her disapproval over your decision to choose me instead.

~Esmeralda

My querida, I still maintain that my mother does not oppose our marriage. You just need to put an end to the meshugaas in your head.

~Mateo

Foolish ideas? Right!

How about you buying your mother her own house?

~Esmeralda

What was that?

My mother is living in a different house. That will never happen!

My mother is going to stay in this house with us and no one, and absolutely no one will oppose that.

~Mateo

A feeling of déjà vu?

I have always known you love and cherish your family especially your mother so much, but darling we will be welcoming our first baby so I do not want your mom to taint this house with her presumptuous behavior.

~Esmeralda

Enough Esmeralda!!!

No more of your impertinence towards my mother, I warn you.

She stays in this house and you had better embrace the reality.

~Mateo

I was not expecting any better from a mommy boy. I just hope it does not get any worse from here.

~Esmeralda
