Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: “The One Thing I Don’t Have”

Not everyone's life is the same.

Some are born with nothing.

Others, with everything.

But if you ask who is truly satisfied… the answer is no one.

Those with nothing want something.

Those with everything want more.

And Reina Aizawa was no different.

She had what others dreamed of—wealth, beauty, power.

But the one thing she longed for… was love.

A sleek black car rolled to a stop in front of the school.

Students gathered, whispering, eyes filled with envy.

The door opened. A girl stepped out, dressed in high-end fashion from head to toe.

Reina Aizawa.

There was nothing she couldn't get.

Because her father was a billionaire.

And her life was about to take a drastic turn—with the arrival of someone unexpected.

[***]

Inside the school corridor…

"Hey, look—it's Reina Aizawa!"

"I heard she's insanely rich."

"She got someone expelled just for bumping into her!"

"She's cold-hearted… full of attitude."

Reina walked past them without a glance, heels clicking against the tile floor.

Let them talk, she thought.

Jealousy always sounds like gossip when people hate what they can't have.

"H-hello, Princess Reina," a mocking voice called out.

Reina stopped. Her gaze turned icy.

Saki.

Her half-sister.

"What do you want now, Saki?" she said with a cold edge.

Saki smirked.

"Two things. One—don't call me your sister. We share a father, but I don't have your filthy mother's blood. And two—I still don't get why Dad wants you as the next CEO when all you do is cause trouble. I'm more capable than you."

Reina smiled, lips thin and sharp.

"Capable? Dad knows what you and your mom are. Greedy parasites who only care about money."

Saki's grin widened.

"Oh? Talking about my mom again? Did you forget what she did to you last time you got brave?"

Reina clenched her fists.

She could still hear the sounds—her younger self crying, the cruel laughter of her stepmother echoing in her mind. Her face paled.

Once again… Saki had won.

"While Reina swallowed her pain in silence…

across the campus, someone else was fighting their own battle."

Meanwhile, in Class 2-B…

"Your grades are excellent as always, Takashi," the teacher said, flipping through papers.

"But your tuition fee still hasn't been paid."

Takashi stood silently, eyes locked on the floor.

His fingers tightened around his backpack.

"If this continues, you won't be able to join the advanced prep classes. Do you understand?"

"...Yes, sir. I'll try to pay as soon as I can."

"You're dismissed."

Takashi walked out slowly, shoulders heavy.

[***]

"Yo, Takashi!"

He turned.

It was Daiki—his cheerful, messy-haired friend, always grinning.

"What's with the face? You look like you just got dumped."

Takashi tried to smile.

"Nothing... just the fee issue again."

Daiki clapped him on the back.

"Man, you're crazy. Part-time jobs, top grades, and handling everything solo."

He paused.

"Your mom's still in jail, right? For your dad's murder? And you're holding it all together… I'm proud of you."

Takashi flinched, but didn't reply.

His eyes drifted to the window. His reflection stared back—tired, empty.

"I'm just trying to be a good son," he muttered.

"Oh! I almost forgot—don't skip the rooftop today!" Daiki said, eyes lighting up.

"It's her birthday. Saki's gonna be shocked!"

"Ah… right." Takashi nodded slowly.

"She'll be happy."

"You invited her?"

"Yeah. Told her I had something important to say. She probably thinks I'll confess."

Daiki laughed. "Joke's on her—SURPRISE! It's a birthday party!"

Elsewhere on campus…

Saki stood with her brother, Shun.

"So, what did you want to talk about, my lovely sister?" Shun smiled.

"Cut the crap," Saki snapped.

"That girl—Reina—we need to do something. She's in the way."

Shun chuckled. "Still salty, huh?"

"She's better than me at everything—grades, games, leadership. That's why Dad made her heir. But I won't let her take everything."

Shun sighed. "Everyone has weaknesses, Saki. Even her. Reina has everything—but she's missing one thing."

He leaned in, eyes cold.

"Love."

"Give it to her. Make her believe in it.

Then shatter her."

"But she won't believe anyone. She's too cold," Saki replied.

"Then figure it out. That's your job. I'm done here."

He walked away, leaving Saki alone.

"Ugh! That annoying jerk…" she hissed.

She glanced at her phone.

"Haa… guess I'll go meet that idiot Daiki now."

Rooftop – Moments Later

Saki opened the door.

"Surprise!!!"

Takashi and Daiki stood there, holding a small cake.

Saki gasped, hand over her mouth.

"You guys… remembered?"

"How could we forget our rude little princess?" Takashi smiled.

"Thanks, my slaves," Saki teased.

"Hey! You can't call us that—well, maybe just for today," Daiki laughed.

They cut the cake.

Laughed.

Sang.

For a moment, it felt like everything was okay.

[***]

Then… Takashi's phone rang.

He stepped away to answer.

His smile disappeared.

"…I'll see what I can do," he said softly, before hanging up.

"Hey, what's wrong with him?" Saki whispered.

Daiki sighed. "Same old stuff. School fees… and now his mom's lawyer needs money to continue her case."

Saki's eyes narrowed.

She looked at Takashi. Something stirred inside her.

"Daiki… wait here. I need to make a call."

[***]

"Oi, Shun. I found a way."

"Hmm? What way, my dear sister?" Shun asked lazily.

"The way to destroy Reina Aizawa," Saki said, eyes locked on Takashi.

She smiled.

Darkly.
