I continued chest compressions on Clara, refusing to give up despite the scratches burning on my arms. Her pulse was so faint, it was barely there.
"Get the hell away from my sister!" Dominic Beaumont's voice cut through the hospital lobby like a blade.
The crowd scattered as he stormed toward us, his bodyguards falling in behind him. Robert and his mother froze, their faces draining of color.
"Dominic," Robert stammered, "you don't understand—"
"I understand perfectly," Dominic snarled, his eyes flashing with rage. "You're trying to kill my sister for her money."
When Robert's mother lunged at me again, trying to pull me away from Clara, Dominic moved with shocking speed. His foot connected with her side, sending her sprawling across the floor.
"Touch her again," he warned, voice deadly quiet, "and I'll break every bone in your body."
He nodded to two of his men. "Restrain them. Call the police. I want them arrested for attempted murder."
