Chapter 1 - Not a princess stuff

EPISODE 1:

The Royal Pain in My Life (Literally)

---

[Scene: Royal Hall – Mid-morning. Everyone looks important. I look like a hostage in a ball gown.]

Selene (narrating):

You know those days where you wake up feeling like a main character?

Yeah, this wasn't one of them.

I was currently seated on a golden throne that looked majestic but was secretly stabbing my spine in three different places. A room full of nobles watched me like I was about to perform a trick.

Spoiler alert: I wasn't.

"Princess Selene," Lord Brant droned, his mustache twitching like it had a personality disorder. "You must consider Prince Leoric's proposal. He's a fine match."

I blinked at him.

Then blinked again.

And then said, "Does he come with a mute button? Or perhaps a manual on how not to be a walking disaster?"

Gasps. Murmurs. My mother pinched the bridge of her nose like it was a full-time job.

Queen Amara:

"Selene, please. Just smile and nod."

Selene:

"Mother, I've smiled and nodded so much, my face is considering going on strike."

---

[Later – Selene's Room]

I yanked off my tiara like it owed me money and flopped onto my velvet bed.

"Ugh. Why is every prince either a creep, a bore, or a talking statue with hair gel?"

Adrian (my younger brother):

"Because the good ones are fictional, and the rest are emotionally unavailable."

"Great. So I'm destined to die surrounded by cats and royal portraits of people I hate."

Adrian:

"Not necessarily. You could also die dramatically in a political coup. That's very on-brand."

"Thanks, sunshine."

---

[Suddenly – Loud crash outside the castle gates]

Servants ran past my window. Screams. Guards shouting. Drama.

I ran to the balcony, expecting an army, or a dragon, or maybe my dreams crumbling in real time.

Instead... I saw him.

A man in a dark cloak, dusting himself off after apparently falling off a horse. A sword at his side. A smirk on his face. Trouble in his aura.

And hot. Like, unnecessarily hot.

Selene (internally):

Oh no. No no no. The universe wouldn't do this to me.

Not when I'm emotionally unstable and easily attracted to chaos.

---

Guard:

"Who are you, outsider?!"

Damian (smirking):

"Just a humble traveler. Definitely not a threat. Unless sarcasm counts."

Selene (whispering to Adrian):

"We're doomed."

Adrian:

"Yep. He's got That Look™. The 'he's either the love interest or the villain' look."

Selene:

"...What if he's both?"

---

[Narration – Selene]

Little did I know...

This ridiculously charming idiot was going to turn my life into a flaming disaster of betrayal, magic, sword fights, and the most annoying flirting I've ever suffered.

But that's a story for tomorrow.

Right now, I just want a nap and maybe a less dramatic tiara.
