Chapter 20 - Chapter Twenty - Orella's deals with Roan

Wednesday, 29/10/2149

I look around my office, the council is gathered but I have a more pressing issue

"Bellamy I need you to run today's meeting" I say, my voice steady despite the tension swirling around me. "major Bryant has informed me that another exodus ship has landed and Kane has taken leadership of the camp and is requesting a meeting with me" He nods, his brow furrowed as if grappling with the weight of my words.

"Who are you taking with you" he asks, curiosity flickering in his eyes.

"Arlo is waiting for me," I reply confidently.

"good be careful" We hug and I step back into the glow of the elevator, the doors sliding shut with a soft hiss.

I meet up with Arlo, "Orella" he bows his head respectfully, and we grasp each other's forearms in a warrior's greeting, our bond solid and unbreakable.

"let's move" I say, and he nods, determination etched on his face as we mount our horses.

I urge Selene forward, her powerful legs carrying us swiftly through the rugged landscape, the wind whipping past us, alive with the thrill of speed. In under an hour, we arrive at the skaikru camp, a stark contrast to the lush greenery around it.

Dismounting, I can feel the tension build as we walk our steeds through the towering trees into the clearing, where the air is thick with anticipation

"Stop where you are!" a guard shouts from the fence, his voice cutting through the hushed murmurs of the camp. We stop

"Who are you and what do you want"

"My name is Orella, and Kane is expecting me!" I call out, my voice carrying the authority of a leader. The guard's demeanor shifts instantly; he disappears before the gate swings open, revealing Kane,

"Orella is it good to see you" he says, his hand clasping mine firmly.

"you too, Kane, welcome to earth" he thanks me but keeps his eyes behind me

"This is Arlo Kom Trikru, he is my guard and wherever I go he goes" Kane nods holding out his arm, they shake warrior style which makes me curious

"follow me" Kane instructs, leading us into the heart of the camp where eyes—curious and wary—lock onto us, whispers tracing our path like a breeze. He ushers us into a meeting room, pulling the door closed behind us, blocking out the world. I take a seat across from Kane, Arlo standing sentinel behind me, a protective presence.

"thank you for coming, I know the last time you interacted with anyone here, it was hostile but you should know word got out on the ark about what Jaha did and a relection was called" Kane begins, his voice steady yet heavy with gravity.

"well then chancellor what are you doing on Earth if most of your people are still in space" Kane looks shocked i knew he was Chancellor but moved past it

"I left Councillor Glass in charge of the ark but made it clear I was still their chancellor, I wanted to keep the peace of all my people and this was the best place to do it" he explains, conviction lining his words.

"What did you call me here for" I pull Kane's focus back to the present, sensing the significance of this moment.

"I've been down here for 4 days, some of us visited your camp but found it was empty, cleared out"

"We moved, the dropship was too small to fit all of my people" he didn't look surprised Jaha must have told him I 'stole' his people turning them against him

"how many people do you have" I look deeply into Kane's eyes trying to figure out his motive for asking this question

"218 people" I state firmly, observing the shock that flits across his face.

"I want to be allies, what will it take for that to happen"

"I want three things" I state, my voice clear and unwavering."Firstly anyone who wants to leave here and join my clan you will let them" he nods hesitantly, "secondly you meet with the commander and join the coalition" This one he doesn't hesitate about nodding too and that concludes my suspicion

"And thirdly ______" he takes a moment to think before agreeing, we shake hands

"Arlo, wait outside and guard the door" He nods reluctantly but obeys, closing the door behind him with a soft click.

"how long have you remembered your past life" My words cut through the charged silence, sending a jolt through Kane's demeanor, leaving him momentarily speechless. "Kane" I say, my voice firm yet inviting, urging him to respond.

"how do you know that" he asks, his brow furrowing in confusion.

"warrior greeting, no hesitation to meet with heda and you let me get on the dropship with kids" Still reeling, he nods slowly.

"does anyone else remember, You changed so much someone else has to know"

"Raven, Octavia, Lincoln, Indra, Anya and Heda remember plus myself" I reply, his brow knitting tightly in bewilderment.

"I don't remember you at all"

"Long story short, in our last life I was born on the ground and that is why you don't remember me" Kane's confusion only deepens. "none of what you have learned about this leaves this room, all the others have been sworn to secrecy and so must you, understand" He nods, the weight of this revelation dawning on him.

"Now that we are allies, what will you trade for local anaesthetic"

"what do you need it for" he questions, his tone turning cautious.

"just know that I need it urgently and we are running out" I reply, urgency sharpening my tone. He agrees to consult with Abby about it, promising to get back to me.

"ok, now I must return home" I say, rising from my seat. Together we exit,

"he doesnt know about the mountian" arlo questions

"no and i intend to keep it that way" i make it very clear and he nods understanding

In the heart of the camp, I whistle, a clear summons that silences the chatter and draws every eye to me.

"if you do not know me my name is Orella Ward, I was a major on the Ark, some of you might have known me as the Skai Champian, I am now the leader of a clan called the Sky Valley Clan, as some of you know I offered you a place in my clan and many of you wanted to come but stayed behind for you families if anyone here wants to join me and my people please follow me out, chancellor Kane has promised me if you want to join me he won't stop you, but know it is a four-hour walk back to my camp" Arlo stands steadfast at my side as seventeen brave souls step forward, ready to join our journey.

"Does everyone have everything you want to bring" I inquire, scanning the crowd for hesitation. Many nod, and I move next to my horse.

"my guard and I can take one more person each who will join us" The crowd parts as two kids are pushed forward, their wide eyes filled with hope. I scoop up the little boy while Arlo gently takes the girl, and together we mount our horses, the children nestled safely before us.

With a gentle nudge, we set off at a slow trot,

I ask the girl first, her bright eyes sparkling as she replies, "Sarah."

"That's a pretty name," I say with a warm smile and then i ask the boy infront of me "And you?"

"I'm Thomas," he answers, his voice filled with youthful excitement.

"Cool! How old are you both?" I prompt, eager to learn more about these new friends.

With pride, they share their ages: "I'm 10," Sarah declares confidently, while Thomas shyly adds, "I'm 6."

"I have three kids of my own," I say, my heart swelling with love. "Will is 11, Charlotte is 13, and Lilly is 14."

Sarah's eyes widen in disbelief. "How do you have three of them? The Ark won't let my mummy give me a little brother!"

I chuckle softly, the warmth of my family filling me. "I didn't give birth to them, but they didn't have any parents, and that made them sad. So, I asked them if they wanted to be my children, and they said yes! Now they're all very happy."

"that's so cool, I wish I had a big brother," Thomas says, his voice tinged with longing.

The journey back home takes a seemingly endless five hours, and I breathe a sigh of relief as we finally arrive. I dismount my horse, gently passing Thomas back to his grateful mother.

"Welcome to Mount Sienna, please follow me" I announce, my voice brimming with enthusiasm. I lead them through the door and we meet Bellamy at the elevators

"Everyone this is Bellamy we lead the clan together" I introduce, my tone proud.

"What did Kane want" Bellamy asks, a knowing look in his eyes.

"an alliance, will you take the first group to level 5, I'm sure there all hungry" He nods, but the look on his face tells me that this conversation is far from over.

with the first group going with Bellamy, I take the second elevator with my group of 8 down to level 5

The elevator doors hissed open, and I stepped onto level 5, Here we have the mess hall, a bustling communal kitchen, a treasure trove of knowledge in the library, a shared living space, and three spirited schoolrooms," I announced, my voice echoing in the vastness.

As we entered the mess hall, I spot Bellamy orchestrating a symphony of chatter as everyone slid into their seats at the head of the long, polished table. The post-lunch lull hung in the air, with most folks busy at work, but the energy was palpable. I tell them to sit with the rest of the new people

With Bellamy and I taking our seats, Murphy and his kitchen crew strode in, each of them cradling a steaming bowl bringing them to our seated selves, "I see you've brought home more strays" Murphy remarks, a grin spreading across his face as he placed the bowl in front of me.

"They will each have their use, but don't worry, I'm sure no one can cook as you can," I wink. With a playful smirk, he strode away, leaving behind a sense of warmth and the promise of shared moments, each bowl a reminder that no matter how empty the hall feels, it was our connections that filled it with life.

at the end of the meal, I stand bringing everyone's attention to myself, "This is not how we eat every day, usually Murphy and his kitchen team will cook buffa style and everyone has to fill their own plates, they also only cook two meals a day, lunch and dinner, this room can fit 400 people so when we gather for dinner everyone has a seat, no one has an assigned seat except for Bellamy, myself and the council who sits along this table" I wave my hands along the table in sitting at

"There are two things I want you all to do today, first is to find a place to sleep, most of us sleep on level 6 except for the kitchen team they sleep on this level and myself"

"Where do you sleep," Thomas's mother asks

"I share the presidential suite with my three children, Murphy and Bellamy" All 17 of them look between us shocked

"Now level 7 is off limits to everyone unless you have permission from Bellamy, your captain or myself"

"why" one of the men ask

"because level 7 is where the command centre and my office are, no one needs to be down there, it's guarded 24/7 and you will be questioned if you are found down there without permission," I say very clearly

"Now Tessa here will help you find a place to sleep, if there's anyone here you want to sleep near just ask Tessa, she is in charge of housing" Tessa smiles at me before she starts guiding everyone towards the elevator

"Mr Miller, Mr. Wick and Mr Crockett will you stay behind please" The three of them separate from the ground and come back to me

"Orella, it's so good to see you again, how have you been" David Miller's voice boomed like thunder, yet his eyes sparkled with genuine joy.

"I've been good, David. I imagine you're eager to see your son," I replied, and he nodded, his excitement undeniable.

"If you three would follow me," I gestured toward the flickering lights of the second elevator, the metallic smell of opportunity wafting through the air as the four men stepped into the confined space with me. I pressed the button for level seven, the elevator gliding smoothly as we ascended.

"Bellamy would you take them to our office please while I call down Nate and Raven" he nods and leads them down the hall and into my office while I go into the command centre and over the loudspeakers

"Will Nate and Raven join me on level 7 please" I walk into my office As I stepped through the door, I found the four men sitting around the polished table we used for council meetings, their faces a mixture of anticipation and intrigue. I settled into my seat at the head of the table.

"Once Raven and Nate join us I will explain why I brought you all here" I assured them. Not two minutes later, they breezed in, bringing an electric energy with them.

As soon as he saw his son, David sprang up and enveloped him in a tight hug, a moment of warmth amid the swirling uncertainty. After a wholesome moment, the two of them take a seat

"Now Raven you've been asking for more qualified people to help you with the kiln project, here are two" I gesture toward Mr. Wick and Mr. Crockett. They exchange puzzled glances, while Raven shoots me a look that clearly tells me this isn't what she meant.

"Raven is captain of the technology team and a member of the council, if you wish to put your skills to work, you will join Raven's team" They eye each other and slowly nod in reluctant agreement.

"Great! David, Nate is our second-in-command, but he also assists with base security. Our current captain of security is Oliver White, but you have more experience in this field, and I'm certain he'd prefer someone more qualified to take over his responsibilities. However, he is also a member of the council. Would you like the job?" David ponders for a moment, then shakes his head resolutely.

"No thank you. I'll do anything to contribute, but I'm only here for my son." I nod, fully understanding his priorities.

"I'll talk with Oliver about your guard assignment, so you'll have more time with Nate."

"Thank you."

"Anything for my friends." We share a warm smile before I dismiss everyone, leaving me alone with Bellamy

"that was nice of you," he remarks, his tone light yet filled with admiration.

"David was my mentor before I made Major. I owe a lot to him," I reply, and he nods in understanding.

"So, how was the council meeting?" His smile fades, and I can't help but chuckle at the sudden shift in mood.

"Not fun. Raven complained incessantly, and Harper looked like she was on the verge of tears after her report. On the other hand, Stuart was having the time of his life in his new role. That kid absolutely loves his jobs," he says, shaking his head in disbelief at the absurdity of it all.

"do I want to ask about oliver and Octavia" I inquire, bellamy rolls his eyes at the mention of the duo.

"you've started something, O is taking extra pleasure in kicking their ass but oliver just says it's 'training' them"

"if only they had been nicer" is all i say as i take my seat behind my desk, i open my laptop and begin listening to the council meeting recording and getting to work.
