Chapter 1 - chapter 1: The Day I Died

CHAPTER ONE: THE DAY I DIED

First-Person – Jake's POV

People always say that when you die, your life flashes before your eyes.

That's not what happened to me.

What I got was pain—raw, electric, numbing. And something else. A whisper of… power.

It was just another night in New York. The kind where the cold cuts through your jacket no matter how many layers you wear. My busted headphones were slipping sound from one side, the left ear going quiet unless I twisted the cord just right. I didn't bother fixing it anymore. I just kept walking.

Dead-end job behind me. Half a bag of stale fries in my pocket. Rent unpaid for the third time. I kept my head down, hoodie up, pretending the city didn't exist. When you've got no parents, no family, and no future worth calling your own, sometimes pretending is the only thing that keeps you from unraveling.

I turned the corner onto 47th. Same cracked sidewalk. Same flickering streetlamp. Same pothole that never got filled. I had one earbud in, music playing something numb and angry. That's when I heard it.

A scream.

High-pitched. Panicked. Close.

I froze. Just like that. Took one earbud out, turned around.

A man was running straight at me.

Black hoodie. Pale face. Wild eyes that didn't seem to be seeing me. His hand clenched something. A blade. Thin, glinting silver, like it had just been sharpened.

I didn't move.

My legs locked. Brain stalled. I just stood there, caught between thought and instinct. One second—just one—and that's all it took.

The knife slammed into my back.

I didn't feel the steel go in. I felt everything else. My nerves lit up like someone had poured fire into my bloodstream. My body seized. Then collapsed. I hit the pavement hard, one cheek scraping against the freezing sidewalk, blood already pouring out of me in hot, red pulses.

I reached back with both hands, trying to stop the bleeding. Pointless. Someone screamed again—this time for me.

I couldn't breathe. Every heartbeat was a drumbeat behind my eyes. My chest felt like it was going to implode.

It hurts…

❖ Pain Resistance acquired.

Wait. What?

It's hot. God—it's so hot—

❖ Heat Resistance acquired.

No. It's cold. I can't feel my hands—

❖ Cold Resistance acquired.

❖ Heat and Cold merging… Thermal Fluctuation Resistance acquired.

The voice wasn't a sound. It wasn't even a whisper. It was just there—like a thought that wasn't mine. Perfectly calm. Perfectly clear.

I blinked. My vision swam. Blood pooled beneath me, steam rising from it in the winter air.

Was this… real?

No. It couldn't be. Unless—

Unless this was like those anime. Like That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime or So I'm a Spider, So What?

I don't know why I thought it. I wasn't laughing. I wasn't smiling. But my mind clung to it anyway—because it was stupid, and I was scared, and if this was how I went out, then screw it, I wanted something.

I thought it deliberately. I focused every last ounce of will I had left and shouted inside my own dying head:

I want the Predator skill.

❖ Unique Skill: Predator — acquired.

Okay. Okay. If I could do that…

Great Sage. I want Great Sage.

❖ Unique Skill: Great Sage — acquired.

The pain began to fade. Not gone—just distant. Fading like the light behind my eyes.

If I was going to die, then fine.

But I wouldn't stay dead.

I don't want to be human anymore.

❖ Race change requested: Dragon.

Request approved… Constructing new vessel…

White light exploded across my vision, pure and blinding. I felt my body split apart—not ripped, but pulled, like someone was unzipping my soul from the meat it wore.

And then—

Silence.

Third-Person – After Death | Rebirth

The body known as Jake bled out on the cold pavement of 47th Street.

But his soul had already left.

🌌 INTERDIMENSIONAL VOID

"Soul stabilized."

"Searching for compatible world…"

"Target located: Earth-199999 (MCU)."

"Constructing vessel…"

Somewhere beyond time, in a stretch of space untouched by light or gravity, something began to form.

It wasn't born—it was built.

First came essence. Coiling magicules swirled together like molten stardust. Spirit became matter. Bone and sinew wrapped around a core of raw draconic force. Silver-blue hair streamed from a sculpted crown. Skin the color of pale sapphire shimmered with translucent scales, like crystalline armor embedded just beneath the surface.

Massive wings curled inward—smooth and silent, outlined in cerulean flame.

A sigil glowed faintly on the chest. Not a heart. Not a reactor. A convergence point—where cosmic power fed into flesh.

This was no human resurrection.

This was a new being entirely.

And at its center slept a soul once called Jake…

…now reborn as Velmir Elvaris.

☄️ THE ASTEROID

As Velmir's body floated unconscious in the abyss, a chunk of space debris hurtled toward him—fast, jagged, the size of a man's torso. Its core gleamed faintly with metal like frozen moonlight.

Great Sage:

"Threat detected. Master in stasis. Initiating auto-defense."

"Activating Predator."

Velmir's right hand moved. No conscious thought guided it. Just instinct. Skill. Power.

A vortex opened in his palm—black and blue, spinning like a galaxy eating itself.

The asteroid vanished inside it.

"Analyzing material… Vibranium detected. Storing in stomach subspace."

"Requesting teleportation to designated world: Earth-199999."

"Request approved."

🌍 EARTH – MALIBU HILLS (2008)

The air shimmered.

Reality bent.

Velmir's body descended gently through the coastal fog, landing silently in the tall grass of a lonely Malibu hillside. The moon hung low and heavy. The Pacific murmured in the distance.

Wings retracted. His chest rose and fell slowly, his breath glowing faint in the dark.

Great Sage:

"Calculating time until consciousness restored: 12 years."

"Activating Skill: Convergence."

"Converting ambient cosmic and magical energy to magicules… Regeneration begun."

The vessel pulsed once with light. Then went still.

"Searching nearby structure… Abandoned building detected 82 meters east."

"Initiating limited flight."

🏚️ THE ABANDONED HOUSE

Velmir rose.

Weightless.

Silent.

His wings unfolded, catching the night breeze. He glided over the hill like a ghost reborn, slipping into the ruins of a forgotten home—its roof cracked, walls half-covered in vines, windows broken long ago.

He landed softly.

Great Sage:

"No life detected. Structure viable. Beginning operations."

"Accessing hardware… Power restored via external surge. Connecting to computer terminal…"

Six hours passed in quiet.

The monitor blinked to life. Data began to flood in.

"Digital systems learned. Hacking protocols acquired. Identity creation in progress."

"Establishing historical lineage: Noble House Elvaris. Myth-seeding program engaged."

"Establishing wealth structure. Shell companies formed. Land acquisition initialized."

"Vibranium mine: Hidden. Coordinates secured. Property registered in off-grid channels."

Day became night.

And then again.

Ten days passed.

No one came.

The house remained silent—except for the storm of data below, and the sleeping presence buried in its depths.

💤 FINAL SEQUENCE

"Naming protocol online. Public naming required to finalize race bond."

"Warning: If individual with insufficient energy attempts naming, fatal backlash likely."

"Spreading Elvaris name into folklore, digital myth threads, underground culture."

"Magicules approaching stable threshold."

Velmir slept beneath a halo of starlight and quiet energy, sealed within layers of protection and possibility.

He would not wake today.

But soon—he would.

And when he did, the world would already know his name.

Not because he chose it.

But because the world needed to name him.

"Hibernation sequence: Engaged.

All systems: Stable.

Awaiting awakening."
