Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Wasted Rest

On a Monday afternoon, A pale, short man walked into his apartment.

Colby had feelings of dread, knowning that his works will all be in vain, that morning his boss overworked him to the point of burnout, he was tired of his boss making him work overtime, but its finally over and Colby could finally have his deserved slumber on his soft and comfortable bed; not knowing it will be his last.

Colby had forgotten about his dinner, he rushed out of his apartment to his local resturant just a few minutes from his apartment, it was his favourite restaraunt but it was quite sketchy, going in colby noticed the interior and the decorations had been altered; he didnt bat a single eye, he was drooling for his favourite peperoni pizza, made freshly at "Pizza Paradise".

He ate each slice with delight and joy, the flavours overpowering the dread of his dreadful sleep schedule and his even more awful boss, every single bite was savoured not even a crumb was wasted, he was even willing to take the pizza box home.

He was gonna walk home not realizing he had to pay, the cashier was nice enough to remind him unlike his dreadful and annoying boss who would just take a cut from his paycheck everytime he forget something.

Walking home Colby noticed the light poles flickering oddly; it was his first time seeing them flickering this way, he casually pushed it aside and continued walking thinking it was an average occurrence, not realizing the grave mistake he would be doing.

Just a few steps away from his apartment, he was tragically hit by a falling light pole the reasons were unknown; it fell for no apparent reason, it wasn't normal for a light pole to fall like that, it seemed like someone pushed it over?

Colby was seen passed out with a destoryed lightpole over his body, bleeding from his head to toe, the thoughtful cashier had called the ambulance for help, but still it was purely in vain, you could even call it a tragedy the cashier knew that Colby was his repeat customer. But why would Colby's life be ended now? it was like someone was behind the strings of this incident.

Colby was rushed into the hospital, he sadly didn't make it everyone cried but his boss, even at his funeral the boss never came, but the loyal cashier did; everyone mourned his death unlike the miserable boss.

After his burial, everyone had cried their tears, mourned his death honored his legacy, just like your average funeral, nothing special no highly expensive coffin nor expensive decorations.

All of his life was just him living like how people told him, not choosing his own life plans, but listening to other people all of his life and this is what had been achieved, he had a stable job working as an employee for his company, his boss was a insufferable man, he would overwork his workers and even cover them up, Colby didn't want to argue because he would likely lose his job, income and most importantly his apartment.

His landlord was even more miserable, he would ask people for rent before it was even due, he would even force people to pay before the due dates, he was a bad man but he was succesful unlike Colby, he was exploited but the landlord was the opposite, he was the one doing the exploiting.

Colby couldn't even reach his 25th birthday, it was quite saddening for his relatives, they had plans for him, cared for him but now? he was gone, not disappeared he was dead forever.

The boss never thought about Colby, even if he had begged for less work; he wouldn't oblige, he never cared about his employees, not even if they were struggling infact he would exploit them even more, driving them crazy with their messed up sleep schedules.

After his death people knew that he wouldn't come back, But Colby had other plans.

He jolted up looking around him, no regards for just what happened, he couldn't remember afterall, he just thought he passed out.

"Where am i?" Colby questioned "Is this Heaven?" Colby remarked

Looking around he saw the sky, it wasnt any regular sky it was white, no singular cloud in sight, it was a pure white sky, looking at his feet he saw he was standing on a puddle, it looked like the puddle was a never ending ocean, but the water level was just at his feet he pondered about it and saw a giant white gate across this vast ocean, it was far away from him, but Colby unconsciously walked to it.

Every step he took the water had seemingly gone up, it wasn't a giant leap but it was going up little by little, until Colby had a awful idea to run through the water.

"Even, if the water goes up i want to get to that massive gate over there by any means" Colby declared "Hmmm, what if i just start running even if the water goes up, does it really matter?" Colby remarked

As he walked the water kept going up and up and up....

Colby had no signs of stopping, until one roadblock occurred the water level was dangerously high, it was at neck level Colby still without thinking ran through until the water submerged Colby. Not knowing how to swim, Colby was sinking more and more, but he still ran even with him drowning he had still continued, until he had suddenly blacked out.

"Where am i now?" Colby wondered

Looking around he saw a medivial like village, and he finally realized he had been transmigrated, Looking around the village he saw different type of people, knights, archers and mages. He looked more and saw people of different races, there were orcs, elves and some ones only found in myths and stories, Colby was suprised and someone was behind him.
