December 30th… I was at the store buying liquor for New Years. I was excited. My family drove all the way from Dallas to Chicago as my wife's family came from Detroit. My beautiful wife Aldona was with me holding my newborn baby at the store.
My firstborn was a beautiful baby girl, she was Dutch from my side and Polish from her mothers. I grabbed an expensive bottle, "Do you think this will do?" I asked my wife. Maria, my baby girl, began to cry. I asked my wife to hold Maria. "Here, be careful." She said with her strong accent as she handed Maria to my hands.
I looked down towards my palm, I was holding my bundle of joy. She was so pure. Little did I know this was the last time in a long time I would feel an emotion this strong.
