Asher Land stared in shock at her tear-stained face, not knowing what had happened. He had just thought to look around and see if anyone lived nearby, but in just over ten minutes, Sophie Smith's emotions had unexpectedly spiraled out of control.
He approached her and embraced her tightly.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have left you without saying anything." His voice was somewhat apologetic.
She didn't know why she felt like this. She shouldn't be so fragile, but when she opened her eyes in the darkness and didn't see him, she felt scared.
She hugged him tightly, his solid arms and warm embrace made her feel very comfortable and at ease.
A fleeting thought crossed her mind: if they could always be together, then she could enjoy the sense of security he brought her without any guilt.
But after all, it was just a fantasy. She kept reminding herself to stay sober! She must!
There could never be anything between them.
She quietly leaned against him, spending an uneasy night.
