A nurse walked out of the ward in fast strides as she stumbled through the hallway, her legs carrying her so quickly that something in me sprang.
Without a word, I hurried through the same passageway, heading into the ward and then into the room.
My eyes dropped as my heart raced rapidly, still catching sight of the doctors working on her.
Mum was on the other side of the bed, her eyes filled with tears as she stared at them in confusion and curiosity.
Without a word, I rushed toward them as the nurse who had hurried out returned with something that looked like an injection in her arms. The doctor received it and plunged it into her arm. A sharp wave of panic gutted my chest before I could breathe.
"What the heck is going on?" I asked when I couldn't hold back anymore, sniffing as he turned to me, slowly drawing off his gloves and dropping them in the box.
