Accompanied by the crowded crowd, Horn and his party's carriage drove into the city of Mammon once again.
Even though Horn had witnessed the grandeur of this great city before, he was still extremely shocked!
Just one day apart, Horn was back in this city. They could have casually found an unremarkable small town to stay in for a month, but after much discussion, they still decided to return to Mammon.
There were three reasons.
First, although there were a number of powerful masters in Mammon that made Horn despair, the law and order was quite good. As long as they didn't cause any trouble, they could stay in this city for a month without being suspected at all.
It was much more comfortable than staying in those small towns where they had to be on guard all the time.
Second, although Horn had bought a lot of materials for making magic props, there were still quite a few materials that he didn't buy for various reasons. Some were inconvenient to carry, some were too expensive, and some were not easy to preserve.
Moreover, because they had to take the materials away, they didn't buy much of each. If they failed, there would be no replacement. It would be much more leisurely to conduct research in Mammon.
Third, they hadn't thought about how to deal with the terrifying number of wild witches here because they were in a hurry to go to the God - Forsaken Land before. Now that they had enough time, they could consider it.
This time when they came back, they also decided to stay at the little boy's family's inn. Originally, according to their idea, renting a decent house in Mammon for a month would be the most cost - effective. But unexpectedly, the rent here was even more expensive than staying in an inn!
Maybe it was because those who had such a need were all wealthy merchants who came here to stay for a while.
So the group followed the winding path for the second time and came to this little - known small inn.
When they were about to arrive, Horn raised his eyebrows and looked at a dark corner.
Harsh curses kept coming. Two adult men were kicking and punching a child lying on the ground.
The one being beaten was exactly the child from the inn.
And the two men who were beating him were the same two who had given them bad looks before!
That strange feeling appeared again!
Ian Parker concentrated all his spiritual power on the little boy.
The child was curled up on the ground, enduring the beating from the two men while holding back the pain. Tears welled up in his eyes, but he bit his lips to keep himself from crying out.
It was coming, almost there!
Something was about to burst out of the child!
Ian Parker had a strong feeling that he could figure out what was special about this child.
Horn looked at Ian's serious expression and thoughtfully turned his gaze to the little boy. He spread his spiritual power and enveloped the child.
Ian seemed to have discovered something about the child.
But before he could observe carefully, Annie rushed out!
"Don't!"
Before Ian could say it, Annie had already pushed the man away and protected the boy.
"Aren't you two big men ashamed of beating a little boy?"
She comforted the boy while glaring angrily at the two men.
The moment Annie protected the boy, that strange feeling disappeared, and Horn's spiritual power missed its target.
Ian sighed. He had no ill - will towards the boy, he was just very curious. He was curious about what was so strange about the child.
There were very few things that he couldn't figure out.
The two men who were enjoying the beating were very unhappy. They hadn't finished teaching this ungrateful kid a lesson yet!
One of the men didn't even look at who had pushed him and directly punched Annie in the face!
He was still in the state of punching and kicking the boy and wanted to beat anyone in sight!
Annie didn't have time to dodge this sudden punch. As a wild witch, she didn't have time to chant spells in such a short time!
She didn't have time, but it didn't mean others didn't. Horn, who had been watching this direction, stared wide - eyed, and the Thunder Eye in his blindfold turned slightly.
A very weak bolt of lightning came out of nowhere and directly hit the man's arm. His whole hand started to twitch instantly.
It was like having a cramp!
While he was covering his hand and screaming, Black Dog Terry had rushed over and punched him in the face. His yellow and blackened teeth were knocked out of his mouth!
Then he got into a fight with the two men.
He was a battle - maniac and was always the first to take action in such situations.
The fight between them wasn't very spectacular, but every punch landed. They knocked the two men down in less than a minute.
Terry didn't use magic. He just enjoyed the feeling of a hearty fight. Compared with magic, this kind of fight where every punch landed was more fascinating to him.
The two men lying on the ground stared at Horn and his group with hatred in their eyes. What business is it of yours when we beat this little bastard?
Looking at their looks, Enoch smiled faintly, walked up to the two men, squatted down, and whispered something in their ears. And in his wide sleeves, his magic wand emitted a strange magical power.
After he finished speaking, he let the two men go. When they walked far enough away, the two men shouted at the wild witches for a while before leaving.
The wild witches all smiled but said nothing. They all knew that Enoch had done something to the two men. Although they didn't know what it was, they knew the two men wouldn't have an easy time.
They took the little boy, who was in a mess, back to the inn. On the way, Horn talked to him.
Under Horn's inquiry, the little boy told his past.
His name was Colin. His father had passed away long ago, and only he and his mother were left, living a hard life on the last bit of property left by his father.
But this last bit of property could only barely support the two of them, and there were often no guests coming to stay.
He had to go out to solicit customers at a young age, but even if he got a deal, he would be resented by other inns!
In this inn street, he and his mother had always endured unwarranted discrimination.
Daniel curled his lips when he heard this. The discrimination they suffered on this street was nothing compared to what the wild witches had suffered.
At least they could live openly!
The two men were the ones with the worst malice towards them on this street. This malice was completely unfounded, but he could guess a thing or two.
The business of their inn was probably only a little better than Colin's family's. Although they had tricked many first - time travelers into staying in their inn by some despicable little tricks, they basically had no repeat customers.
And they didn't dare to vent their depression on others, so they could only take it out on this mother - and - son orphan pair.
Listening to the conversation between Horn and Colin, Enoch chuckled twice. These two men would probably come here to cause trouble for the last time!
He considered it a good deed.
