Chapter 72 - Chapter 24: Completing the Prototype

"Then please go back and wait. I'll come and call you when I'm done tidying up." The landlady bowed slightly to Horn and said. She had good manners. She should have come from a rather respectable family before. It was unknown why she had fallen so low as to run an inn just to make ends meet.

"Thank you." Horn gave the landlady a sincere smile to express his gratitude.

Of course, the reason he wanted a basement wasn't to earn money by carving. His main purpose was to have a laboratory where he could conduct magic experiments safely!

In case something went wrong during the experiment, it wouldn't attract attention in the basement.

As for pretending to be a carpenter, it was just a cover.

He was now full of confidence. With the holy artifact of the church and the lightning weapon of the Thunderbolt Clan as references, he shouldn't encounter any major problems.

Half an hour later, the landlady, who had finished tidying up, led Horn to the basement of the inn.

As he pushed open the door, a musty smell hit him. The room was pitch - black, and a dim kerosene lamp was burning lonely. It was obvious that it had just been cleaned, but it was still not suitable for living.

The landlady said awkwardly, "I think the rooms upstairs are better. If you're working as a carpenter, it's too dark here."

"It doesn't matter. I have good eyesight." Horn pointed to his right eye confidently.

The landlady left the basement with a strange look on her face. It was completely unconvincing for a one - eyed man wearing glasses to say he had good eyesight.

The wild witches helped carry all the necessary things to the basement. Fortunately, there was a ventilation area here. Otherwise, it would be difficult to conduct some experiments that required fire in an airtight basement.

He had heard from old Douglas that both human breathing and fire burning would consume a certain component in the air. If one cast a fire spell in a completely unventilated place, it might cause death.

After arranging the basement to his liking, Horn asked the wild witches to leave. Making magic items required careful thinking, and it was difficult for Horn to concentrate with so many people watching.

Horn had absolutely no experience in making magic items.

Apart from the holy artifact and the weapons of the Thunderbolt Clan, there was no other reference. It was obvious that this would be a very arduous task!

He gently slapped his cheeks to focus himself and prepared to start.

He got stuck right at the first step. He didn't know how to begin.

However, he thought that making a prototype of a magic prop was definitely necessary. So, after much thought, Horn decided to make the basic shape of the magic prop he was going to create a ring.

A ring could be carried close to the body, didn't consume much material, and more importantly, Horn thought it was very stylish to cast spells while wearing a ring.

But having just an idea wasn't enough. He simply didn't have the ability to shape the thunder silver into a ring!

This metal was extremely hard and couldn't be processed by simple methods. He couldn't possibly make a solid iron block the size of a fist as a magic prop, could he?

He frowned and held the thunder silver in his hands, looking at it. His palms were red and extremely hot, but the thunder silver didn't show the slightest change.

Since he couldn't handle it himself, Horn went to a jewelry store. Most craftsmen couldn't recognize this metal. Only a very few who could recognize the thunder silver said that the Thunder God Church had special methods to process it.

This metal couldn't be processed anywhere else, which was why it was sold so cheaply.

Horn really admired himself. A single thunderbolt spell could destroy the thunder silver that the craftsmen in the entire Mauman City were helpless against.

 Wait!

Suddenly, a light bulb went off in Horn's head. Could that shield really be destroyed by a mere third - ring magic?

His thunderbolt spell had shattered the North Wind Holy Artifact, and the Thunder God Church had special methods to process this metal...

Didn't the Thunder God Church only excel in controlling lightning?

Horn's heart suddenly heated up. If the Thunder God Church could do it, he should be able to as well.

After all, he had the Thunder Eye that no one in Ceylon had ever had!

He quickly rushed back to the basement, closed the door, and directly shot an arc of electricity at the thunder silver on the table.

After the blinding flash of electricity, a deep pit appeared in the once - indestructible thunder silver. Horn estimated that the casually - shot arc had almost pierced through this spiritual silver!

A smile spread across Horn's face. The first step of his magic prop plan could officially begin!

...

 A few days later,

 In the dim basement,

Horn held his two hands at a certain distance, and a blinding arc of electricity flowed back and forth between them. A fist - sized metal ball, as liquid as mercury, was floating in the air strangely.

That metal ball was exactly the thunder silver that Horn had been helpless against before!

He was very satisfied with his research over the past few days. Although lightning had a good effect on thunder silver, it was completely wishful thinking to think that he could easily shape the thunder silver just because of that.

Even after discovering that thunder silver was very vulnerable to lightning, Horn had no way to deal with this unyielding thunder silver at first.

So, he spent many days researching and finally developed his first magic in life, a magic specifically used to process thunder silver.

Thunder Smelting Technique! It was a second - ring magic!

To say it was a development was actually a bit of a cheat. He just kept trying to bombard the thunder silver with lightning to find a way to make it obedient.

After all, simple lightning could only soften the thunder silver for a moment during the bombardment. It was just a pipe dream to shape it in that instant.

If it were someone else, this would be a huge project. But with the Thunder Eye, Horn just needed to keep changing the lightning.

By finding the appropriate current intensity and combining it with the effect of magic power, he could knead the thunder silver like plasticine!

And turning a spell that could be casually cast into a magic formation that could be engraved in the sea of consciousness was simply nothing compared to creating a magic out of thin air.

Horn could use this magic without any hindrance. If others wanted to learn it in the future, they would have to honestly engrave the magic formation.

The metal ball kept changing shape between Horn's hands, and a small piece of thunder silver about the size of a gold coin separated from it.

Sweat appeared on Horn's forehead. It was quite uncomfortable wearing that eyepatch. After the Thunder Eye was freed from the restraint of the eyepatch, the operation became much more flexible.

He concentrated on dealing with the small mass of thunder silver. The large mass of thunder silver turned into a solid metal ball before it even hit the ground and made a dull thud when it landed.

The liquid thunder silver gradually twisted into an ugly ring according to Horn's will. The metal on the ring kept rising and falling, and finally turned into an ugly - looking ring.

The prototype of his first magic prop in life was completed!
