For the second time, Kalina gaped, unconsciously muttering "wow" when standing right in front of the magnificent building in front of her.
It was unexpected, hard to believe, now she was one of the residents of a luxurious palace-like house that stood firmly on a hill far from the hustle and bustle of the metropolitan city.
The white nuances combined with dark blue with a fountain in the middle of the yard, small incandescent lamps perched between the barriers around the entrance gate, and several lush plants around added to the comfort.
There was only one luxurious building in the middle of the trees standing firmly.
Kalina was stunned, her tongue was numb, it was the first time she witnessed the splendor of someone's residence. So far she had only been living in a slum area far from the impression of being clean and luxurious.
"How can someone's life be so perfect?" she thought once again.
"Honey, come in. You must miss home, right?"
A soft voice greeted her, Kalina was shocked when Arum's hand gripped her fingers so tightly. The daydream about how lucky this woman named Kanaya was faded instantly.
Before Kalina could reply, Arum pulled her slowly towards the inside. Again and again, she was amazed by the amazing view that greeted her.
Fantastically priced interiors greeted her, large sofas, a piano next to the window, and cupboards filled with antiques showed the caste of the owner of this house.
Not only that, when she looked up she saw a luxurious lamp hanging proudly from the ceiling.
"You must be tired after the long journey to get here, right? Mom and Dad will let you rest first, then Zaki will lead you to your room," Arum added in an order, and at the same time surprised.
Kalina again did not respond excessively, following the flowing flow. After Arum said that, Zaki led her to the second floor, where the intended room was located.
Not long after, the aroma of vanilla mixed with sweetness greeted her again. Not a single word came out of Kalina's pale lips.
She enjoyed the view that was pleasing to the eye that had never been seen before. In her mind, she kept muttering admiration for the comfort of this magnificent building.
"I will carry you to bed."
Zaki spoke, Kalina woke up again from her daydream and was now in a large bed. The soft bed made her feel comfortable immediately, the warmth of the thick and soft-textured blanket added to the peace.
She looked up, and right at noon, she found a large figure of a woman and a man smiling broadly.
The woman's cheerful face showed how happy she was at that time, while the man next to her seemed depressed and showed a half-hearted smile.
They were both smiling, but the impression that Kalina saw when she first noticed it felt odd.
"That's our wedding photo. You and I have been married for four years, not much has changed actually."
"We met when you participated in an archery competition. As a judge, I was amazed by your best game. Without realizing it... I fell in love with you at first sight, Kanaya."
Warmth spread from the palm of a man sitting in front of her. Kalina gasped, turning her attention directly to it.
"At that time you showed extraordinary charm, as if... arrows were your life. I am very flattered by your persistence in the game," he continued.
"Sudden love pushed me to reach out to you, who would have thought... we would love each other and get married after that."
"I love you so much, honey. There is nothing more precious than you to me."
Expressions of love kept blowing from Zaki's lips. The crescent moon curve framed on his handsome face showed his determination.
Sentence after sentence of intoxication could make any woman fall in love with him. However, it was different with Kalina. She did not respond at all when she heard the words thrown by Zaki.
The man's sincere smile turned awkward, he pulled back one of his hands from Kalina's cheek and cleared his throat softly.
"I forgot you have amnesia. Then get some rest."
The door closed, and a heavy sigh blew out. Kalina released her stiff muscles, having been trying to hold back an incredibly heavy burden.
"Thank God he left. Was he disappointed? Because I didn't respond to his sweet words?" Kalina chuckled briefly, "Seriously. I couldn't possibly be affected by all that, because… those words weren't for me, but for his wife, Kanaya?"
A second later Kalina felt ticklish herself, she laughed and held her stomach in pain.
"Stop Kalina, your life is no longer a game. You're playing someone else. You-" Kalina stopped her words on purpose, leaning forward where she just realized there was a dressing mirror reflecting herself.
Slowly she crawled and got out of bed, approaching the dressing table that had been showing her figure.
Kalina was stunned, witnessing how thin and small her new body was. She who was wearing a long dress could see it.
As a result, she pulled her dress back to form the curves of Kanaya's body. Kalina gasped when she could see more clearly the shape of this very thin body.
"Somehow, even though she lives in abundance, even to the point of being able to feed more than a hundred poor people like me, why... is her body this thin?" Kalina said wonderingly.
"Doesn't she ever eat?"
Not only that, she also saw Kanaya's ribs protruding, like someone who was malnourished.
"Really, what has she been eating all this time?" she continued holding back her bitterness.
For a split second only emptiness accompanied her, Kalina sat on the single sofa observing the room that was wider than her previous residence.
There was no more joy felt when she found Kanaya's body condition very thin and covered in bruises.
Her attention fell on a large frame depicting a pair of people sharing happiness. For some reason, Kalina felt something was wrong in this house.
"What happened? Why do I feel like everything feels fake?"
Kalina who used to always be cheerful facing this and that, was now more silent. The sad impression is appropriate for a woman named Kanaya.
She pushed aside the clothes that covered her wrists, a new gauze was draped there. Not only that, Kalina could find black scratches from scars covering this woman's arms.
"What has she been through? Why are there so many wounds? I'm sure this wasn't done by someone else. Did she do it on purpose? But why? Shouldn't she live a life full of happiness?"
"Intact parents, who love her so much, abundant wealth, plus a handsome and understanding husband, what else is lacking?"
"It's true what people say, don't judge someone or something by its cover. Kanaya could have a much harder life than me," Kalina whispered speculating.
So many old and new scars covered Kanaya's body. Kalina could feel from the traces of the wounds how bad her life had to be.
"Kanaya, we don't know each other, is it possible that my spirit's transfer to your body has another purpose?"
"How bad is the life you are facing? Did you jump from the second floor? Was it intentional or-" Kalina gasped at her own words and immediately fell into contemplation at that very moment.
"Or did someone push you?" she continued in horror.
