CHAPTER SIX
Another day has began. It was a typical sunny afternoon as I left my lectures, feeling drained from a long day of classes. I made my way towards the market filling my mind with thoughts of my coursework and upcoming assignments. But amidst all the chaos in my head, there was one person that I couldn't stop thinking about - Christabel.
As I entered the bustling market, the loud chatter and various scents of food filled my senses. I made my way through the crowded stalls, past the vendors selling fruits, vegetables, and spices. My eyes scanned the bustling crowd, hoping to catch a glimpse of bananas. I love bananas...my friend Chris would always call me monkey's father. Well, a careless joke. But I couldn't see bananas and just as I was about to give up, I saw Christabel like a flash.
She was standing at a fruit stall, inspecting some apples. I couldn't believe my eyes; it was like fate had brought us together again. I made my way towards her, trying to contain my excitement. As I approached, she turned around and her eyes widened in surprise.
"Hey!" she exclaimed, a big smile spreading across her face.
"Hi!" I replied, equally ecstatic.
We hugged each other, and it felt like no time had passed since we last saw each other. We caught up on everything that had happened since we last met, laughing and reminiscing about the past days. As we were walking around the market, I couldn't stop admiring how beautiful she looked, her eyes shining with happiness.
We decided to sit down at a nearby cafe and order some coffee so we could talk more comfortably. As we sipped on our drinks, I could notice the slight hint of sadness in her eyes. I mustered the courage to ask her about it, and she hesitated before finally opening up.
"I'm sorry," she said, looking down at her cup. "I know I haven't been a good friend lately. I've been so caught up in my own problems that I haven't been there for you when you needed me."
I was taken aback by her words. I never expected her to apologize, and I quickly reassured her that she had nothing to be sorry about. We spent the next hour talking about our lives, our dreams, and our struggles. It felt like we were catching up on years of missed conversations.
As we were about to leave, I suddenly remembered something that had been bothering me for a while. A few days ago, I had tried calling Christabel, but her number was constantly busy. I had assumed that she was probably busy with work or school, but it had been bothering me nonetheless. I decided to bring it up and casually asked her about it.
She looked at me with a sheepish expression and said, "I'm so sorry about that. I remember seeing a missed call from you, and I concluded to call you back. But then, I got caught up with something and completely forgot."
I could see the genuine regret in her eyes, and I quickly reassured her that it was okay. It didn't matter to me anymore; I was just happy to be with her again. But her next words surprised me.
"I'm really glad you brought it up," she said, smiling at me. "I've been wanting to apologize to you for not calling back, but I just couldn't find the right time. I'm so happy we ran into each other today; it feels like it was meant to be."
Her words warmed my heart, and I couldn't syop feeling grateful for this unexpected reunion. As we said our goodbyes and promised to keep in touch, I couldn't stop smiling. It felt like a weight had lifted off my shoulders, and I was grateful for the closure that this meeting had brought. I realized that sometimes, life brings people back into our lives when we least expect it, and it's up to us to cherish those moments and nurture those relationships.
As for Christabel, she became my constant source of joy and inspiration. She reminded me to take a break from my busy schedule and enjoy the little moments in life. And most importantly, she showed me the power of forgiveness and the beauty of what can be seen as a true relationship.
As I look back on that fateful day in the market, I can't help but smile. It was just a simple coincidence, but it brought back a treasured lover into my life. And for that, I will forever be grateful to Christabel my dear, my confidante, and my joy giver. Just as she left, I remembered that she once said I should call her she has something to tell me. "Oh! How would I forgot such a beautiful sentence?"
Well, I concluded that she is mine and I needed not to worry. Just as I was walking towards my hostel, I met with Josephine and she decided to come and know my place.
