Kaen walked out of the gate under the blood-red moon. His steps were silent, yet every movement radiated
something ancient. A group of hunters found him just outside. One of them, a seasoned hunter named
Rourke, with silver hair and a haunted look in his eyes, stopped him cautiously.
Kaen looked up and simply said, "I don't remember anything." No name, no origin. He faked memory loss so well that even the highest detectors didn't sense a lie. After two days of monitoring, he was released.
Rourke, reminded of his own lost son, took him in as family.
"You remind me of someone," he said. Kaen smiled gently.
"Then maybe I'm meant to stay."
Two months passed. Kaen adjusted quickly to life among humans.
He especially grew fond of something
called "ice cream" - a cold dessert that strangely brought him joy.
But under the calm surface, he learned
everything. Gates had begun appearing 26 years ago, and humans had evolved. Hunters were now ranked
from E ,D,C,B,A,S,SSand SSS.
There were 86 S-rank hunters, 11 SS-rank, and only 1 known SSS-rank in the world. Kaen, however, was something else entirely. Darkness with a smile... and a sweet tooth.
