Chapter 18 - Fight Against the Strong Knight

I wasted a week staying in the last room of this temple. I still have no clue why I'm here since I can't talk to the door anymore but I should still wait until the knight who is supposed to be the last boss arrives.

I have enough supply in my Storage Ring. Making connection with Gunnar through Natasha is great because it's harder for anyone to notice my ring compared to a pouch attached to a belt.

Still, a week without anything happening? That's boring, right?

Well, I have gotten used to doing nothing when I'm bored. And sometimes I still train and exercise.

I'd like to face the lizardman and the Titan Wolf again if possible while waiting but no matter what they just won't come out. So I can only waste my time training myself.

But I also have some hobbies that I can still do in this world so I can waste my time better. And it's music. I loved playing musical instrument even in my past life.

There are many musical instruments in this world but there's no guitar. I wanted to get a guitar but the closest thing to have is a lute. Thanks to my skill as a carpenter before becoming an adventurer, I could make one myself. I took some time and effort and I did it during my free time these past two years to finally completed one.

And I finally made one that sounds the same as the acoustic guitar I played back in my previous world. So I played it singing the songs from my memories until finally the knight appears.

"Who are you and why are you here?" he asks.

"That's my question. Who are you and why do you want me to stay to learn about the truth?" I ask him back.

"I don't know who you are. And why do you think I want you to stay? What truth?" he asks me back.

"Huh? So you don't know? Then who is the one I'm talking to on the door? That door over there told me I should stay."

I make sure that I don't reveal anything about the fact that I'm a reincarnator to him. I don't trust him yet. But he's the one who should be here.

So if it's not him, then who? And why is he related to the one who knows about my reincarnation? And why is this not added in the game? It's confusing.

So right now, we're being wary at each other. I already stored the guitar and replaced it with my sword ready to fight. Though fighting him was the original reason why I'm here, the reason now has changed.

"So, you received a message on the door saying you shouldn't leave? When did you get it?" he asks as he checked the door. There's no sign of the message again there.

"Around this time last week. That's when I reached this place. Since no one was here, I thought of leaving but the door was locked and there's a message I shouldn't leave. I talked to the door and whoever it was I was allowed to leave and return. Since the one telling me to stay will give me the information I want to know I decided to return and stay here," I say.

"What information is it?" he asks.

"If you don't know it then it's not you I should hear it from. Anyway, you should be here because you're the last boss of this place, right? Will I get the answer if I defeat you or will you contact them first so we don't have to fight? Tell me," I say with my sword pointing at him ready to fight.

"Well, I think I know who left that message for you. And I don't know how you get it but you're right. I'm in charge of the last room in this temple. Because no one has ever cleared the previous two rooms, I often took a break. Sorry I wasn't here until now. Anyway, let's begin the test. I'm sure you will meet the one you wanted to meet if you can defeat me. If you can't, then you're out of luck," he says.

He's also holding a longsword like me. But I don't care. The first strike is the most important for my swordsmanship.

I use my magic and swing my sword horizontally from my right to his left side. It's my fastest slash. But he reacts quickly and raises his sword to block my attack.

"Your sword is rather fast but it's useless if your opponent can block… WHAT!?"

He realizes it when my sword makes a contact with his sword. My sword actually doesn't stop. The slip magic I used make my sword cut through his sword easily without any resistance.

Instead, because of that attack, my sword became faster. The slip magic reduce the frictional level even more so any contact with a solid object will make the sword faster than before.

With every contact a sword makes, a swordsman always know that the speed will reduce. But that's the opposite of what he had experienced all his life. My sword goes faster and is reaching to his chest from his left.

"Damn it!"

He curses but he's still calm enough to dodge my attack. He's still faster than me. But my attack still cut through a part of his armor and barely grazed his skin.

The first move is over. And my opponent instantly aware that my attack ignores defense and gets faster after every contact.

At least he doesn't have a sword anymore. His sword was cut and the blade is only about fifteen centimeters from the handle. That's all that left.

But he's still dangerous so I can't let down my guard.

Now he prioritizes avoiding my attack instead of blocking. He knows it's useless. And he doesn't have a sword long enough to parry my attack.

It's frustrating that I can't hit him at all. But that doesn't matter. I have slip magic.

I swing my sword to an open space next to him. He doesn't bother moving because he knows I won't hit him. And that's when I use slip magic on him. I use it so he will slip and fall to the direction where I will slash.

This is my swordsmanship. One unconventional technique that any experienced swordsman surely had never experienced.

Swinging at an empty spot? That's because that place is where your body will right before the sword reaches that place.

My sword is now moving to his helmet. But his quick reaction, he tucks his head down so all I cut was just his helmet and a little bit of his cheek leaving a small and clean cut on it.

Now I can see his face that is always covered in the game with that helmet. Inside that helmet, there's an old and balding man with white hair. He's old but he's not weak. That's obvious.

But I know nothing about the man. I have never seen him before. And it's not the time to figure it out.

I swing my sword again to finish him off but what he does next makes me stop. He drops his sword and raises both his hands to the air.

"I surrender. Even if it's because I let my guard down, I still lose in the end. And I can't really go all out knowing that you are here for a reason. It's your win," he says.

Even in the game when I was using the strongest party and everyone was at their max level, the battle takes ten minutes at least. But now, it's done after just a few slashes.

But it doesn't mean I'm strong. It's just that the opponent doesn't know the extent of what slip magic can do. I'm the only one who knows it.

If this place has restriction on magic, I would have lost many times faster than I won this battle. That's how it is. I'm extremely reliant on slip magic.

"Alright. Thanks for not going all out right away. Can you tell me who is the one I talked to before?" I ask.

"I can. But I need to explain it to you first. It's the reason why I'm here," he says as he removes what remains of his helmet.

The armor is also damaged. So he casually grabs the piece of the cut armor and removes it with his hands easily.

But it's not just with his hands. I could see some kind of light coming out of his hands. It's the first time I see it after coming to this world but I know what it is.

That's Aura. Something like extra power for physical fighters to gain after a long time of training. Like a boosts of power. It makes the knight easily removes the damaged armor with his barehands.

Can my slip magic cut through Aura? It's not a solid object after all so maybe I can't. I guess I need to train myself so I can cut through Aura as well.

"If you used Aura from the beginning I would have lost since I can't use it," I say.

"Maybe that's the case. But looking down on you and not going all out was my own fault. I accept my lost. Now I will tell you something before I tell you who the one stopping you from leaving first," he says.

Now it's time to hear the truth. To hear about my reincarnation.
