Chapter 1 - Prologue

"There be a land. The land of the Holy. Land of the Great. Land of the Food. Land of All. Speak'th all of it, about it. It's might and glory unlike any other. Its recipes: wars have been fought. Alas, 'tis but a story of two. Those two who harnessed the land, and with it, the food."

About 30 years ago, there was a terrible atrocity in the continent of Intiana. The corrupt royals, politicians, and businessmen from the region of Caviaria, who all together practically owned the food distribution of the region of Nihariana, unjustly and mercilessly plundered their resources and food rations, killed the high-ranking and respectable leaders—both men and women—and enslaved all those who knew about the Holy Recipes handed down from the Food Gods.

The continent of Intiana was a rich land in terms of the crops that grew, the relationships that bore friendship and camaraderie, and most of all, it was known for its recipes—the Holy Recipes that the Food Gods themselves concocted from the best of the ingredients, created in the height of perfection.

Intiana was ruled by seven Food Gods, each having their own duties towards their subjects that lived in the continent:

The God of Rice: Reesha

The God of Chutneys: Charango

The God of Cocktails: Cynthia

The God of Spices: Soobian

The God of Sweeties: Saylid

The God of Heavenly Recipes: Horatio

And above all, the one who controlled and ruled them all, the Supreme One, the God of all Gods.

Each of these Gods owned their own duties towards their subjects. (This will be explained in detail and carried throughout the web novel.)

The continent of Intiana is divided into three regions.

The lowest level: the region of Nihariana.

This is where all the lowly men, women, and children lived. After the Great Plunder 30 years ago, a lot of things that once made Nihariana true to its name—like its own Holy Recipes, chefs, dhabas, and pakwaans (lowly restaurants)—were either destroyed or discontinued, leaving the people to eat lowly foods like Nihari (a famous beef stew in the region of Nihariana, also where it gets its name from), daal (lentil soup with stale bread), and the likes of just chai with rusk (milk tea with lightly sweetened hard bread).

Then above this region was the second region: the region of Caviaria.

This was home to all sorts of royalty, high-ranking politicians who possessed the might to cancel and change all the food rations of the other region, and businessmen who were staple to this land, owning all the rich acreage where the best and richest of ingredients grew. This land knew no bounds when it came to playing by their rules, overrun by jealousy against one another and racing against each other in an endless race to please the food Gods.

The lands between in this continent had each their own rulers, mafias, and vigilantes, each upholding the law they sought out to be true justice.

Then finally came the highest of lands, around which thousands kept watch and guard. It was the land of the Gods: Thronium. All Holy Recipes that the lands under had possession of, all rations and ingredients that were owned by all, and all which was Holy came from the Gods who sat on their thrones in this land.

The Gods put out a challenge every millennium or so to give the chance to their people to serve their Gods and be their personal chef. This challenge, open to the entirety of the continent, was indeed the biggest and grandest stage for all to compete—to change their lives and be of fulfilling service to their Gods.

Here come'th the story of two. One obsessed with divinity, and one obsessed to end it.

Utter obedience and absolute vengeance. Hand in hand, band for band.

Joshi Ramathkar, the son of a lowly former pakwaan owner from Nihariana.

Sebastian Harlemwonder, amongst the highest of royalty of Caviaria.
