Chapter 6 - So That's How It Is!

Aunt Wang's gesture was quite generous, giving Wu Fan a full bowl. Although Wu Fan had a good appetite, he still hadn't finished it all. After burping contentedly, he put the remaining chicken in his inventory, planning to eat it when he was hungry.

"Right, let me check my stats!" Wu Fan suddenly remembered to check his attributes.

However, the results were disappointing. None of his stats had increased at all, meaning that the bowl of chicken was just ordinary chicken.

"But it really was delicious. Aunt Wang's cooking skills are great. I'll have to come back for more when I have the chance," Wu Fan thought.

Although he was a bit disappointed that it didn't boost his stats, he was still satisfied with the taste of the chicken. Besides, catching chickens was just a simple task. It was normal not to receive any powerful artifacts as a reward.

"It seems I can't expect to level up 999 times with one hit or receive artifacts at the start," Wu Fan realized. This game was clearly different from those exaggerated games he had seen online. It wouldn't level up that quickly or give out equipment, but the realism of this game far exceeded those trashy games. Whether it was visual, pain, or taste sensations, everything felt real.

"From this perspective, that deity seems to have some real skills to create such a realistic game world," Wu Fan thought.

After completing Aunt Wang's task, Wu Fan didn't immediately go monster hunting or take on more quests. Instead, he wandered around the village. Since he was the only "player" here, there was no need to rush. It was better to familiarize himself with the environment of this place he would be visiting frequently.

When the sun set and night fell, Wu Fan muttered to himself, "If that old man didn't lie to me, it's time for me to go back."

Sure enough, the next second, his vision turned black again. But soon his sight returned, and he found himself back in his familiar rental apartment.

"I'm back?!"

"Looks like that old man might not have been lying!" Wu Fan looked around and said to himself, "But what did he mean about this teleportation changing my fate? It's just experiencing a realistic game world. How could it help my real life? He really should have explained it clearly instead of leaving me to figure it out myself."

Wu Fan sat on the bed, thinking for a long time but couldn't figure out how teleporting to that world would benefit his real life.

"Never mind, forget about it. Let me get up and go running after eating something," he thought. According to what the old man said, time flowed in both worlds, just at different speeds. He could stay in that world for 12 hours, while only 4 hours would pass in the real world.

So when Wu Fan teleported back, it was already morning.

"If only I could take that half bowl of chicken out of my inventory," Wu Fan thought, remembering the chicken Aunt Wang had given him.

He had saved some chicken, planning to eat it when he was hungry, but he had forgotten about it while wandering around the village.

The next second, Wu Fan was stunned.

When he thought about his inventory, a familiar virtual screen appeared before his eyes. And there were ten squares on the screen, just like the inventory he had seen before!

"Damn! What's going on?! Why can I see my inventory in the real world?!" Wu Fan couldn't help but shout, his expression as if he had seen a ghost.

Wu Fan thought he was hallucinating and blinked several times, but he confirmed that he was seeing the same inventory screen from before, with the half bowl of chicken still inside.

Wu Fan quickly tried to bring up his stats panel, and it appeared before him just like the inventory screen.

Then he tried to take out the half bowl of chicken. The next second, he found himself holding a bowl with Aunt Wang's chicken inside!

He then tried to put the bowl back in his inventory, and it worked successfully. Wu Fan, like someone who had discovered a new toy, kept taking out and putting back the chicken, playing with it happily.

"I wonder if I can put real-world items into the inventory," Wu Fan thought and tried putting things from his room into the inventory.

Small table - no! Clothes hanger - no! Stool - no!

Wu Fan tried many items and found that none of them could be put into the inventory. Finally, he had to accept this reality.

"But this is still great," Wu Fan quickly recovered from the disappointment. "Now I finally understand how teleporting to that world can help my real life. I can bring things from that world into the real world!"

During the day, Wu Fan had wandered around the village for quite a while. He knew there were mines around the village, and those mines were unclaimed. Besides the mines, there was also a forest with herbs and other rare fruits. If he could bring those things into the real world, they might help improve his life.

The more Wu Fan thought about it, the more likely it seemed, and he became increasingly excited.

After a long time, Wu Fan finally calmed down, ate the half bowl of chicken, and went out. After being awake all night, he wasn't tired at all; instead, he felt more energetic than usual.

Wu Fan lived not far from Jiangzhou University, which was a prestigious school ranking first in the province and among the top ten nationally. Housing prices in such a prestigious school's vicinity were definitely not cheap, and even renting was expensive.

Wu Fan could live there not because he was rich, but because of some coincidences. Previously, when he was on a bus, he saw a thief stealing a wallet. At that time, he had just graduated and was still a passionate young man. Seeing this, he naturally couldn't stand it. Not only did he shout at the thief, but he also subdued him. Of course, he got some minor injuries during the struggle.

However, good deeds were rewarded. The thief's target was a woman in her forties, who naturally was very grateful to Wu Fan afterward. When she learned that Wu Fan was looking for a place to live, she rented him one room in her spare apartment at a very low price. This apartment was exactly where Wu Fan lived now. Although it wasn't large, many people wanted to rent it, and the price wouldn't be cheap because of the good surroundings and its location near the city center. Therefore, Wu Fan was always grateful to this woman.
