Zuri dried her hair with a towel and slipped into the nightie that was given to her.
"I didn't think you would look so sexy in my mom's clothes." Kenji winked.
"Weird way to put it." She jumped onto the king sized bed that Kenji and Kenzo shared.
"You are getting good with Japanese." Kenzo smiled.
"And better with Chinese." She relaxed.
When her father left Maude, Camie and Zuri, the three moved from Nigeria to California, America then, they finally settled in Maple City in China.
Camie had no problem fitting in because her skin color was almost similar to the shining jade skin tone of other non-blacks.
But, Zuri was an exception. If she came to Africa, she was fair skinned but it she went to foreign countries, she was an outsider.
Her skin wasn't completely dark, it was just like porcelain ivory. If she stood beside a foreigner who wasn't a half-cast, the skin color difference would be clear.
Apart from her eyes and skin that stood out, her hair wasn't much of a problem. She still got complements from boys and girls, who weren't racist.
Kenzo's phone rang and he showed Zuri. "It's him."
"Who?" Kenji asked.
"Take the call and put it on speaker. Kenji, please be quiet and Kenzo, play along."
She took out a ring from her pocket and went on one knee. "Would you marry me? That way, we won't lie and being engaged."
Kenzo got the gist and took the ring. He answered the call and put it on speaker. "Hello?"
"Hey cutie. You aren't sleeping?" The guy asked.
"No because, I..." The guy cut him short.
"You were thinking of me right?"
"Kenzo, have you made preparations for out engagement party?" She asked. "Are you on the phone with someone?"
"It's not like that, babe..."
"Don't tell me anything." She sounded angry. "You promised that we would spend our last days together since we both have HIV but you are leaving me?"
"Don't jump into conclusions and don't say stuff like that. It's private."
