Just because someone tried to kidnap her didn't mean that was an excuse to skip training at least for her. Still she was still physically tired both from the training and the eventful meeting.
So that left her with the theory part of her training after all in order to help someone you need to know what they need. And that was exactly was she planned to read, after she eats ofcourse.
Walking to the house across the hospital where food was served she patiently waited for her turn to come while she waited as she tried to recall what she learned yesterday.
Firstly what kind of plants were useful and why, also where to find their seeds and in what environment they grow, she tried to recall some of them with mixed success.
Second basic aid techniques and how to help someone when they choke. As of one of the unfortunate souls to get directly attacked by the monsters she cleared the hardest part of being a doctor the fear of blood and internal organs. So she decided to not waste such an opportunity and started walking the road of becoming a doctor from now.
Her father tried to stop her saying she was too little and that she had time to think about her profession when she grew older but his advice fell on deaf ears.
If there is one way to repay a death is to give life and what is an easier way to give life then becoming a doctor. That and the fact she was literally sleeping besides the best of the best and could see them at work helped tremendously in taking such a decision.
Still there was a big problem that she couldn't solve no matter how hard she tried, becoming a doctor and reading about the body was incredibly hard, microorganisms bacteria, viruses and other such complicated things were thrown to the books as if they were common knowledge the amount of times she had to look for a dictionary for the name of a bacteria was no joke and that was just the start.
The applications of such organisms and the thought process of solving a problem in the insides of a body together with how to actually create a solution was a foreign field. Sometimes she felt like reading a different language just from the fact that all the names were thrown into a series of instructions and theories of how they should work and what were the dangerous parts and what not.
Like did you know a simple leaf had at least 100 components to it and was literally alive. A plant alive as much as humans and animals were in fact sometimes even more so.
Reading such things maked her head spin she didn't know where to start and where to finish, she tried finding simpler books and she succeeded the problem was they touched on the themes they talked about so briefly that reading them was barely worth it.
She still did though something was better than nothing and she needed to start from somewhere she also read as much as she could find on the most common microorganisms making notes so she at least could remember them when she read the books, it helped in grasping a somewhat of a understanding on what the think she was reading did and how but that was about as much she managed by herself nowhere near applying such knowledge anywhere meaningful.
After her turn came she took her tray and sat in a table on her own and quickly eated after finishing 2 dishes of spaghetti with minced meat and being "forced" to eat a apple by the lady who was serving food, finishing her food she went on her way.
Going to the library was a bit dangerous after all she had to pass two territories and the gang which occupied the square of the library was known to acquire random new people from their square.
So she had long devised a way to never be caught to their schemes, if there was a rule all gangs listened to was that they didn't forcibly acquired members that weren't part of a gang the reason being if they mistakenly trapped a citizen who was living in town then all the town folks would certainly retaliate and unlike them they had all the tools to not even lift their fingers to give them as much pain they wanted to such gang.
So she discarded her ID and the safety it provided changed clothes to the most fashionable and expensive dark themed clothes she could find painted her colour hair black something her mother strictly prohibited before she turned at least 14 and equipped herself with the tools necessary to pass through the guards of each street undetected unfortunately changing inside their territory wasn't a option since they could easily find her ID, the ID was both a safety method and a pointer at her head and how important her family was.
So when the sun started getting ready to sleep she went out of the hospital and unlike before she entered inside an empty building ready to start her way to the library.
Climbing up the stairs and going to the roof's door wasn't hard still the door was made with heavy metal and was relatively new, a person like her had no chance of breaking it. So she didn't even try, covering her clothes in a plastic white body bag she hid in one of the dusty closets in the building. She took a chair she hid in a secret hole behind one bathroom and with the help of a hook slowly and carefully passed through the window above.
Its hole was too small for a normal human to fit through and for once in her life she was thankful that she was so short and small structured. Then she changed the grip of the hook and slowly descended to the ground, with a simple tug she retook the hook. Later she would return home from here if everything went well so she didn't bother with the chair. She putted the plastic bag in one destroyed vent and went on her way.
She looked to the building across a meter of distance separating them and 5 meters above ground falling from such distance would certainly kill her. She took 3 steps back and took 3 deep breaths putting such unnecessary thoughts away.
I did it before today is no different.
After saying that she runned with all the speed her body could muster and jumped. She easily made it successfully passing the border between the hopefulls and neutrals but she didn't stop instead she speed up, the next building was a little shy of 2 meters away for each other not only that but it was a little taller making reaching it almost impossible.
Still she wasn't afraid because a balcony with a safety barrier was directly below falling to it especially if she fell to the stone barrier hurt like hell only she knew how many times that happened but she sometimes escaped the pain by barely reaching the roof.
Today was not such day, she tried to do everything perfectly, the steps the speed jumping at the edge of the roof feeling half of her feet touching the sky but maybe because she was tired or maybe because she maked a small mistake her jump wasn't high enough and she was clearly shooting straight to the wall.
Falling to the wall if not lethal would leave her severely damaged, so while her hands and feet uncontrollably tried to find ground and her eyes trying to register her impending doom she stretched her left hand and with her right hand slapped it with all her strength. A simple orb that produced the light element into her body activated when her body slammed the wall with a loud boom.
She felt hurt and dizzy but not otherwise affected, stealing the orb from that guy always filled her with regret but he was refusing to sell it to her since she was lacking in capital and she was in desperate need of some protective method since she knew how dangerous such jumps were.
Still she didn't try to get hold of the wall she knew the material was pretty much impossible to grab into and if she struggled and failed there was a real chance that she would miss the balcony. If such a thing happened all the luck in the world wouldn't save her so instead she allowed her body to fall and rolled as close to the wall as possible making sure to fall with her back.
Boom!! the balcony violently shook and its metallic material could clearly be heard across the quiet night. Groaning loudly she slowly stood up and once again put out the hook. She could go to the roof by passing the window but unlike the previous building this one didn't have a window for her to pass through making such a feat infinite times harder.
After slowly and steadily reaching the roof, uncaring for the voice she just produced she dusted off her clothes and stretched for a minute. Then she turned forward and made one last jump this one was by far the easiest it was barely 10 feet apart and had plenty of things to grab into. Opening the old metallic door of the building she just landed into she quickly ran down the stairs. Opening the exit door she carefully looked left and right seeing noone she quietly closed it and went out. Walking straight to the plaza she found a self proclaimed taxi and went to its window.
The library was a twenty minute walk away from here and by far too dangerous a distance to walk alone. Taking a taxi cost 1 euro providing both safety and quick access to the library as long the taxi driver himself didn't do anything funny.
She was getting 10 euros per week as pocket money from her dad allowing her to enter the library 5 times per week but the weekends it was closed in the afternoon so it wouldn't make a difference anyways.
Going in and telling the man her destination and giving him the 1 euro from now so he couldn't swindle her she relaxed in her seat.
The car in question was a simple family car clearly old and overused, as for the driver himself he was a old man with white beard and no hair. He was very talkative and tried too many times to initiate a conversation with her. After all it wasn't the first time she was inside that taxi, she gave noncommittal answers and either tried to get the conversation away from herself or simply ignored him.
With a car the distance was barely 2 minutes away even if you went slowly. The reason she chose this man's car was that both his locks safeties didn't work meaning the second he tried to lead her in some strange alley she could open the door and run to the street definitely not a safe choice but better than being used as a pawn to get her father to join an ambiguous gang.
After reaching the library she said her goodbyes and went in. It was around seven in the afternoon now and the library worked until 00 a clock closing with the change of day. She always tried to leave half an hour before it closed but sometimes she forgot herself and had to be kicked out like the rest.
Definitely no fun times since everyone needed a taxi and since her destination was the borders she needed to wait for a taxi to get her alone in fact she wasn't a stranger to not get a taxi all along being stranded here. When that happened she went to an abandoned house and slept so her morning and afternoon routines changed since losing the chance to read for free was beyond stupid.
Today she was planning to recap what she learned and hopefully take a step forward towards her goal.
