Chapter 8 - Never Cross Paths

She decided not to pay attention and went over the counter. With a pad and pen in her hand, she walked over to the newest customer who was looking out the window.

"May I take your order?" She asked, focusing all her attention on the pad in her hand.

"I would like the best coffee you have. Maybe vanilla cappuccino and cinnamon powder."

"I'll get back to you." She handed the pad to Ken who read it and have her his order.

"Here we go." She dropped it carefully on his table. "Your order." She didn't even look up.

"I think you look at customers when they speak to you."

She finally looked up and was surprised.

Lucius enjoy the one second shock that lingered on her face. "I apologize." She bowed. She was used to apologizing."

"Don't try it again." He had a smirk on his face.

"Right. Do excuse me." She left him and felt her blood boil and her chest tightened.

She went behind the and took out her inhaler. After a few puffs, she felt better and pulled Kenzo into a storeroom. They both crouched down and she signed.

"Ken, Fourth Young Master Damari is here and I need you to make sure that we never cross paths." She said.

"What's up? Is he here?"

"Yes. My guess; he followed me." She but her lip. "Why would he? He dislikes women so why am I an exception?"

"There was a recent interview he had." Kenzo recounted. "The Young Master mentioned something about wanting entertainment and hoped to find something interesting."

"Are you saying he is has taken a liking to me?"

"That's unlikely." Ken shook his head. "The Young Master gets bored with things easily and it also means that he might think you are simple."

"We will discuss this later." She pulled him up and they exited the store room.

Lucius had already left and only a cheque was on the table. Zuri picked it up and handed it to Kenzo, who put it in the cashier.

'I have no reason to be bothered about him.' She resumed her work and pushed every thought of him away.

"And it's ten o'clock in the evening." Kenzo closed the coffee house and held hands with Zuri.

"Thanks for your help today." She squeezed his hand.

"You're welcome." He kissed her forehead.

He was like the brother she never had. "Cringey." She snickered. "First one home."

Ken's house was the same street as her's so, anytime they finished from work, they would walk home together.

The only problem was, their house was ten kilometers away and they come only walk home once a week.

It's either they took a cab or a bus.

"I don't think we should run home." He said.

She adjusted the bag on her shoulder. "Why?"

"I don't want to be seen by your twin." He confessed.
